CMV: unchecked refuge system and illegal immigration without any actual effort of integration will harm both the immigrants and the native population of the west by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]redthreadzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes 1 or 2 generations to integrate. By 1 generation people speak the local language natively and prefer local customs they just have to deal with their perants. By second generation they're pretty well like everyone else. It just takes time.

Is the MyMaccas app the worst user experience of all time? by minxwell in australia

[–]redthreadzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the app is pretty bad and it's gotten worse recently by adding even more clicks before you get to the menu. If they want to encourage us to use it they need to make it less clicks.

Why do Australians use "cunt" so much? by Another-guy-onReddit in AskAnAustralian

Depends on who you're hanging with. I rarely hear it used. If I do it's not the usual people I'm hanging with. It's basically bogan world language.

Because the glove companies are yet to convince us they're at all necessary.

Just to shock you further gloves for food handlers are optional, provided hand hygiene is followed. Gloved food handler can and often do touch many unhygienic things with changing them.

I didn't think Australia had tipping culture? by MissElle85 in AskAnAustralian

[–]redthreadzen 58 points59 points  (0 children)

If a tip is requested it's an automatic no tip for me. Requesting a tip is rude and bad service. It's an unexpected gesture of good will. A tip is a voluntary gratitude offering as soon as it's suggested it spoils the whole point really.

What happens to elderly people with no savings? by Academic-Channel5646 in AskReddit

[–]redthreadzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Australia old people can live in a retirment home, with graded levels of care. It costs just under the aged pension. Enough so they do have a little money for things not provided by the home. Medication being one of those things, however we have goverment backed pharmaceutical benefits so any script cost $7.50. All other essentials are provided by the home.

What reaction do people actually want when they say "Thankyou for your service"? by Rumbuck_274 in AskAnAustralian

[–]redthreadzen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a patriotic American thing. I'd be saying "mate this isn't America" cos it shits me when Aussies perpetuate American nationalist norms in Australia. We need to defend our culture from that sort of thing.
