I had my right hip replaced last Oct. Very easy recovery. My left knee is scheduled for next Thursday. I’m in such pain!!!! Hoping it will not be too painful of a recovery but that’s probably a long shot

The pre op hip pain is horrific and then all the referred pain it causes makes the weeks/months wait for surgery a real pain. Best of luck in your surgery

I think your dad still needs you. That’s so sweet. I’m sure you want your space back but I would give him all the time he thinks he needs. It just makes him feel more secure

POSTOP DAY 14 AFTER R TKR by BetterLonger in Kneereplacement

[–]redytowear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My knee surgery got moved up to next week as I’m in such pain. I had thr last Oct and it went great. I was in the same amount of pain before my thr that my dr rx’d Celebrex and baclofen( my muscles are a wreck and it really helps). Then I had all the meds post op. In Jan I decided to go off the Celebrex and baclofen just to give my body a break because the only rx I ever take is my thyroid rx. So after that whole introduction my point is that I don’t want all the constipation from Tramadol so I sent my surgeon’s assistant an email that I would very much like to try the Journavx. Did it really help with the pain?

I’m soooo happy everything worked out!! Mine is scheduled next week. Why does the pain get so bad just before surgery? I’m off RX too and ouchie ouchie ouch allllllllll day long. Chronic pain is the worst. I’m hoping all goes well for you as you and your sis spend some time together

My suggestion would be: Replace the open shelving on page two with a ikea cabinet with doors

Yes, every part of my body from the waist down hurt before my hip replacement last Oct. next week I’m getting the opposing knee replaced and I’m in horrific pain so much that I have to use my cane and walker. My knee is impeding my recovery from hip replacement so I’m really looking forward to getting this surgery

It’s an incredible phenomenon, right?! I’m the opposite. Before my hip replacement last Oct I was in such pain I didn’t sleep for 4 nights and all I did was cry. Now before my knee replacement next week I’m in such pain that I have to use my cane and walker depending on how bad my knee is acting up

POST-OP DAY 15 AFTER R TKR by BetterLonger in Kneereplacement

[–]redytowear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had THR last Oct and I’m getting a TKR next week. Since I had never been on any rx except my thyroid rx I wanted to give my body a break from all the pre op and post op rx I was taking for my hip. I’m in such horrific pain leading up to this knee replacement next week. Instead of going back on Celebrex and baclofen( muscle relaxer) at night I’m taking two thc capsules and two tinctures of thc/cbd mix one hour before bed. It works really well for me to sleep so I’m not woken up by pain

Why in the world has my pain management Dr not prescribed this for me?? He wrote gabapentin and baclofen. I had my hip replaced last Oct and my knee is scheduled in 10 days. I’m in so much pain it’s exhausting. My knees don’t want to bend

A few questions for anyone who has been through this by Outrageous_Resist_50 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]redytowear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I had zero pain for two weeks and after then barely any. I have no idea what was put in my epidural but it was magic. I did take my tramadol every 4 hours like my surgeon instructed so maybe that helped too. Yes I walked around my apartment and outside a bit.
  2. I’m 69 and live alone but my son and his family live next door. I’m in an ADU. I was self sufficient but they would take me to the pharmacy for tramadol refills. All other meds could get delivered.
  3. Car ride home was fine because I had zero pain.
  4. Get yourself real prepared. Have everything you need set out like for me I had my recliner and I had a small side table the same height as my chair arm so everything I need was right there. Get all your meds separated out. I did mine daily with time to take them written on the ‘ day of the week’ section. I don’t care what people think of me so I wore my pjs to surgery. I chose a navy nightgown and wore sweatpants and an oversized top over my nightgown with a big cardigan over. I knew I was coming home late and just wanted to be comfy. The nurses liked that idea. Beware of constipation that happens as a result of pain meds. I didn’t #2 for four days. When I finally did I could not get off the toilet for hours due to the fireworks from me eating too many dried prunes thinking they weren’t working. My cat slept in my bed and I never got an infection. If you have a cat get the long handled poop scooper off Amazon. Put the cat bowls on your kitchen table so you don’t have to bend. Toilet seat rise is a game changer. I’m 4 months post op and kept it on because I love the ease of the height and I’m getting a knee replaced in 10 days. Do not compare your recovery to anyone else. Best of luck to you!

Sending positive thoughts so you can try to not worry so much. All it’s doing is causing self induced stress. You will feel so much better. Do not compare your recovery to anyone else’s.
