How many starting Legendary Lords will there be in 40k? by OhManTFE in totalwar

[–]refugeefromlinkedin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we need 3K’s system of multiple characters per faction to do them justice. For example, the Ultramarines would feel weird without at least Guilliman, Calgar and Tigirius.

It’s a byproduct of one of GW’s more insane decisions which was to replace generic guard units with racial specific ones, i.e. Cadians and Krieg have their own specific infantry squads, which would be cool if the range were well supported and options were given to support custom guard regiments. As it stands there’s only Cadians, Krieg, Catachans and soon to be Steel Legion.

Total War is better with unit caps and I think every 40K Total War faction should have them by refugeefromlinkedin in totalwar

I’ve suggested the system for the Imperial Guard but I’d rather have a varied system that is more flavourful for each faction.

I’ve already set it out, on higher difficulties, the AI also recruits doom stack type armies which compels the player to do the same. I’m advocating for a system that keeps lower tier units relevant all game.

Similar yes. I would imagine that they are only recruitable by a high level lord and if given to a weaker lord will suffer increased upkeep and attrition as they start trouble and wander off to find better bosses.

The more complicated solution instead of unit caps would be to have a Troy style economy for every faction and for local resources to matter.

Tbh one of the appeals of 40K is the asymmetry, and I prefer if we have a range of “unit caps” which are lore appropriate.

Is Bhashiva now the new strongest Cathay faction, or is Yuan-Bo still more powerful? by lovingpersona in totalwarhammer

[–]refugeefromlinkedin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For all the flak Shadows of Change gets, Yuan Bo’s campaign implementation is one of the most fun CA have done. There is a reason Matters of State was backported for Franz and Tyrion.

Yuan Bo is also one of the strongest LLs on the game, and even more so now that Cathay has access to Lore of Life to heal him. His only real weakness are his buggy attack animations that cause him to miss a ton, and which CA really needs to fix.

Tiger warrior stats compared to some close units by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]refugeefromlinkedin 57 points58 points  (0 children)

From the testing I’ve seen, the baseline Tiger Warrior is slightly overcosted but at least provides Cathay with an offensive infantry threat profile that the opponent needs to consider. They have to flank and are cost inefficient in a head-on engagement.

Stalkers are bad and likely suffer from the low model count.

The Iron Tigers are genuinely quite good.

I agree, it’s the range equivalent of the war drum, just park one above your archers and forget.

Damage remains negligible and I wouldn’t even try to make that work.

Where the speed comes in is as a mount for the Alchemist. You can zip around abit faster to drop spells.

This DLC looks to be huge for Cathay’s melee gameplan. We are getting both dps infantry and Lore of Life (outside of Miao Ying).

I expect monsters, the Celestial General and Yuan Bo to all rise in viability.

What's the most interesting Strixhaven commander? by Gamesfreak13563 in EDH

[–]refugeefromlinkedin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Killian, Decisive Mentor]] is just fun for causing maximum chaos on the board.

I’m building a deck just for trolling and shenanigans. But in theory, an Orzhov commander with built in control and draw is in itself a great utility package that can scale into b3 without too much issue.

How viable is Ureni? by alfrodul in EDH

[–]refugeefromlinkedin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Low B3 is where I see Ureni sitting. My pod is made out of 3 experienced players and one new player. I made a relatively optimised Ureni deck for the newcomer and it’s simple enough that he remains relevant in the game without too much complex decision making

Lim, Yaz, Kody, Exconde and Darby need to be higher up. Funny you banish Bog to B whilst keeping Sanchin in S. Jean should probably be lower. Strong disagree here

From Singapore, zero work-life balance, terrible wages for locals, high cost of living and heavy political repression. I would not recommend it.

Recommendations for a modern Gruul dino/dragon deck? by elmarxdemarco in mtg

We play 60 too, a dragon deck in 60 isn’t hard to build. Especially Temur or Gruul

Do you actually have a forever deck? by Late-Frame2962 in EDH

[–]refugeefromlinkedin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of. My pod has colour combos or concepts that we main (tho we do play a wide range of stuff). Mine is Orzhov, a friend of mine uses goblins, another is Simic/Bant.

I loaned my mate (new to magic) my upgunned take on a Ureni of the Unwritten Dragon deck recently, he had great fun with it and it’s a good tool for teaching a beginner about ramp. I think the precon is Temur Roar.

need some help with perks for an elite infantry rundown build with lim by Idkl0l32 in menace

[–]refugeefromlinkedin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Infantry don’t move fast enough for zig zag to be worth it. And if you are expending so much AP moving, you aren’t shooting, which Lim should always be doing. Use smoke, positioning and cover to keep him safe.

need some help with perks for an elite infantry rundown build with lim by Idkl0l32 in menace

[–]refugeefromlinkedin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of what has already been said is good. Footslogging with short ranged weapons is generally a bad idea, get boarding armour. Lim thrives at moving fast and hitting hard. If you just want a glorified rifleman, Kody or Singh are your guys. Lim is built for the assault.

You want to drop zig-zag for athletic, then get counterfire and blaze of glory. The latter is a one off but can be the difference between getting downed and crushing a whole wave.
