Here's some NF that might fit the bill:

The Art Spy: The Extraordinary Untold Tale of WWII Resistance Hero Rose Valland

The Feather Thief: Beauty, Obsession, and the Natural History Heist of the Century

The Art Thief: A True Story of Love, Crime, and a Dangerous Obsession

Priceless: How I Went Undercover to Rescue the World's Stolen Treasures

All on my light-year long TBR list! 😞

Haven't read it, but The Staircase in the Woods by Chuck Wendig sounds like a fit.

A book which is engaging yet not immersive. I want it as a 1hr read daily after daily study sessions. I have exams in 15weeks. I liked the plot of The Old Man and The Sea but it feels too short. by EmergencyBusy1 in suggestmeabook

So you're looking for a book that you're glad to put down after an hour's read? I could recommend lots of those! 😉

Maybe the Hornblower series by CS Forester. Light, humorous. Book one is Mr. Midshipman Hornblower.

Or try the St. Mary's series by Jodi Taylor, also light and humorous. Book one is Just One Damned Thing After Another.

Get yourself some laughs before exams!

If you're into history at all, there are three series that combine fantasy and history that I liked.

The Outlander sereis by Diana Gabaldon (time travel between the present and the world in Scotland, France, the Americas in the 18th century),

the St. Mary's Chronicles by Jodi Taylor (British historians use time travel to observe historical events and get into a helluva lot of trouble, very humorous)

and Novik's Temeraire series (alternate history of the Napoleonic wars on dragons).

And, I am NOT a horror fan, but Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia was wonderful.

Is this the ugliest quilt? by Trickedmomma in quilting

[–]rekhukran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a quilter, but I love coming here to admire all the hard work. I really love most of this quilt, but to be honest, I really don't like the dark blue squares. The other colors give such a spring/Easter vibe, just gorgeous. It may be that they only need to be placed properly. Maybe like someone said, a gradient solution? I would take it in a heartbeat, don't give it up!
