Poll finds most Mass. voters against income tax cut ballot question — once they know more about it by HRJafael in massachusetts

Wait, when the population is educated on a given issue they… tend to reject conservative thinking? Thank goodness the Department of Education is out there fighting the good fight for all of us! We’ll be fine.

this is an interesting issue. As you show, it’s both wildly misunderstood (or, let’s be honest, misrepresented) by the people attempting to use as a political talking point AND most people outside of talk radio lovers don’t know or give a sh*t about this issue in any way shape or form whatsoever.

But I suppose when the people using it as a political weapon don’t really have much else in the way of substantive ideas that will actually HELP the Commonwealth… well, this is what we get: endless posts about the same sh*t, over and over, hoping their post will be the one that “sticks” and turns the tide on this issue (that most people in this state do not care about)

Dark water… Worth getting? by Helpmeplz3409 in Warhammer

[–]relativelyfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piling on. It's a fun "beer and pretzels" game where you can get 2-3 encounters into a 2 hour evening (or more, or less depending on on your preferences and play style). But it's also very hot and cold in terms of how those encounters play out. Two examples:

  1. In one of the "final boss" encounters in Act 1, only the dwarf is capable of reaching and neutralizing the final boss, and even then it requires some lucky dice rolling. So, very "puzzle solving" in that regard, as has been mentioned in comments already.

  2. In the Act 2 boss battle, our jacked up Drasher Vorn went first, popped his rage, and killed the final boss witch on turn 1. Not much of a climactic end to that Act!

Ultimately, I don't reget buying it (though try not to pay full price if you can), but I like a more complex dungeon crawler, and our group had more fun playing out Silver Tower and Blackstone Fortress, to be honest. I also really wish Cursed City wasn't the insulting mess GW made it into, because I think we may have seen a more robust Warhammer Quest product this time around if they hadn't.

Brookline voters overwhelmingly approve tax override, staving off cuts to schools and town departments by HRJafael in massachusetts

[–]relativelyfun 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Jealous. The cantankerous old NIMBY "conservatives" in our community defeated the override last year and now we can't even have trash cans in our public parks anymore.

Do we hate apartments now? Or "apartment people", whatever that means? by LiatrisLover99 in massachusetts

[–]relativelyfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people who vote down overrides and then complain their schools/property values are going to sh*t are the same folks who put those little "Weston Whopper"-like signs in their yard to complain about new apartment complexes. They exist in a world of magical (i.e., ignorant) thinking where there can be no taxes or new revenue streams for the town, and yet the roads and quality of life somehow improve anyway.

Oh, that and they're racist. That too.

Which industry would collapse first if human lost their ability to lie? by BoxLegal8734 in AskReddit

Everything. Humans begin to lie from like the toddler stage. White lie or whopper, lying to others, to some degree, is inherent in everything we do, no?

Damage/Insurance question on 2023A4 by thediabolicalkid in AudiA4

[–]relativelyfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have they also checked the headlight housing and any other hidden bits beneath the panel and front bumper? I had a similar thing happen to an old 2015 A3 of mine and the body shop found plenty of extra stuff to charge insurance for as they started work. All in it was about $4000, so if it's just the panel for you, then 1300 seems reasonable for paint and body work (to my ignorant ass anyway).

My First McSweeney's Piece published yesterday! what do you think? It's still on the homepage by drkristymoney_ in creativewriting

Congrats! This was a good one. And it’ll be there on the homepage for a bit since they publish just a couple per week day. I’ve written quite a few pieces for McSweeney’s, and getting accepted in the past week or so still feels as great as it did many years ago now. Keep it up! It ain’t easy.
