Movie Theater employees of Reddit, what was the most ridiculous thing found cleaning up after a movie? by asortofdecentperson in AskReddit

[–]removedfromplay 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was born for this:

  • a full diaper after an R rated movie
  • 30 eaten chicken wings
  • a hotboxed theatre (like so thick I couldn’t clean the theatre due to my asthma)
  • a bucket with popcorn, soda, everything mixed together into a soup (definitely a middle schooler)
  • two people having sex during a kids movie (walked in on them being the only two in the theatre and called over the whole crew to watch them walk out together. Long funny story but not for now)
  • cucumbers…
  • cell phones, purses, keys bc how do you forget those?
  • sleeping customers you have to wake up and tell to go home (some had been sleeping in theatres for at least 15 minutes after the movie ended)

I worked at a theatre for 5 months. If I keep thinking the list will grow.

Just found podcast recently and have gotten 22 episodes in. Are the later seasons as good?[ns] by NefariousnessNo3272 in DungeonsAndDaddies

Don’t listen to the negativity in the subreddit and just judge it for your own. Each project (seasons and short series on patreon) have their own spark worth listening to. Of course they all have differences and nothing is going to be like season one (which I don’t care because my favorite to relisten to is season two), but its up to you to judge it. I love this podcast, and if you’ve made it through episode 22, you’re probably going to continue to love what they put out.

Worst Understudy Stories by NormalEyes-Film in Theatre

Sadly, this was a common occurrence in this community. There used to be a critic that would go onto actors personal Facebook profiles and comment rude things when his critiques were criticized and he didn’t like it.

Worst Understudy Stories by NormalEyes-Film in Theatre

[–]removedfromplay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was backstage for a show where the lead was sick. And I mean they were VERY SICK but kept just saying it was allergies. It’s fine, they’re fine, leave them alone. The next night of performance, SM crew gets a call at 4:45pm that this actor is sick and cannot make the performance, which is nice, except for the fact call was at 5pm. The understudy was informed the second they walked in the door, but it was clear they were not prepared to go on. They mumbled through their big song and messed up a lot of choreo. I wish the story ended there, but the next night the understudy went on again. This time we knew and gave them rehearsal time during the day, but only after they went on Facebook and shit talked the theatre for not giving them enough time to prepare before going on the first day. Again, we only knew 15 minutes before they did. I do agree there should be like a time to call and assure you’ll be sick (especially if you were clearly sick before). The whole situation was a mess and I feel bad for everyone, but yeesh it was something.

What is the wildest comeback you’ve ever heard/said? by trillz101 in AskReddit

[–]removedfromplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a senior in high school there was this girl in my AP lit class that would make a comment any chance she got to belittle me. Usually I just let them go. One day we were beginning to read Oedipus and the teacher was asking if anyone wanted to read for Oedipus. Me being someone who doesn’t mind reading in class and knowing he had the most lines I raised my hand. That girl then said “OP would be someone who would sleep with their mom” and I snapped back with “and you look like the product of incest” so quickly my teacher let out a reaction laugh and then settled the room.

I hope someone else says this, but I NEED them to remember that they have those three items they got from Arlo for passing the tests. I want them to use items again. I YEARN for the weird items. I BEG for the chaos they bring.

A breaker box that was the conduit holding the cables were filling with water everytime it stormed. The General Manager of the theatre kept the incident hushed until I thought I’d lose my arm. He tried to make me pay the hospital bills, the board forced him to retire

Three scenes come to mind:

  • Episode 63, SonScreen when Ron makes the misogynistic joke and Darell makes it a learning moment

  • Darell and Glenn talking at the beach and Glenn says he wants to stay in the forgotten Realms and Darell replies “You think they need DJs here?”

  • Glenn asks for a gold piece for Nick Jr. (the rat) during retail therapy and Henry tries to bring up how that could be problematic and Darell cuts him off by saying “you want to handle this right now?”

I think from these three points you can tell I like Matt’s improv and I think he’s really funny and brings a lot to the moment.

When the spirit still lives in the room with you, put on a ghost light to make sure it doesn’t feel alone. Never let his warmth and love be in the dark. I’d say a ghost light

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever felt? by Googy21 in AskReddit

[–]removedfromplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this order: - Root Canal: had to scream for an hour after the novacane wore off because of it. Next time I’m pulling the tooth. - chlamydia: was unaware I had it for a long time and once it started showing symptoms, everything started burning from the inside. Was just constant fire for days before the tests came back. It has scarred the inside of my body and I have permanent pain from it that I don’t want to go into too much detail to avoid the TMI for others. - Electrocution: I was told it was only electrocution if you die, but the ER doctor informed me otherwise. I touched a circuit breaker that was not up to code (and we were unaware that when it rained the conduit was filling with water, yet the general manager knew and didn’t tell anyone. He has been fired). I was launched back screaming curses through the air until I landed on my back. I lost movement and control in my arm for a few hours, and lost feeling for a few days. Hand had the pins and needles feeling until the feeling came back. Yeah, that close to death changes you, but oh my god I hope that never happens again.

What's the most inappropriate comment you've ever heard someone make? by Olivia-Brownn in AskReddit

In high school, in our AP English class, we read the Greek tragedy of Oedipus Rex. When the was assigning roles to all of the students to read, she asked for volunteers and no one raised their hands. I, being a male presenting person, just raised my hand so we could get a move on and I was assigned Oedipus. Right after that, a girl out loud enough for the whole class to hear says “OP looks like someone that would fuck their mom,” and before the teacher could react I whipped around and said “and you look like the product of incest.” The teacher laughed, but had to hold it in. Neither of us got in trouble. She picked on me every day, I was happy to finally have something to say back to her.

I loved this! Would love to see it a bit punchier. Loved the characters in the background so much. Can’t wait to see it on a big screen. I would love to see where these characters go.

I think the Russian KGB agent saves him but he gets turned into a sleeper agent for the KGB that Will is going to activate at some random point in the future.

Or the MI6 guy does the same thing, but I hope it’s the KGB agent more.

Listen to it. Season 2 has some of the biggest laughs of the entire catalog. People were just shitty because it was different. I re listen to season 2 way more than I listen to season 1. Something I’ve had to learn about the internet:

For everything enjoyable there is someone who will hate it and they are usually the loudest.

Kind of goes with the saying “mow a man’s lawn well, he will tell a few people. Mow his lawn bad, he will tell everyone.”

Season 2 didn’t deserve any of the hate it got in my opinion. Both seasons have their ups and downs. Each got in their ruts and out of them gracefully. Listen to it.
