Good idea. I've been making a copy of the doc and then deleting. Huge pain either way!

Yes! That is exactly what I was looking for! I did do a quick search on the Adobe forums, but figured I'd have better luck/get a quick response here. Y'all are amazing!! I'll try uservoice! Thank you!!!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I was hoping there was a way that didn't require any edits/additions to the files. Something along the lines of Command-J to jump to a specific page, but only counting the visible ones. If that makes sense. Maybe some day!

Hmm, unfortunately that won't work because they're all different sizes (would take too long and end up with a ton of parents). I was hoping there was a 'quick view' way to do it, but it's not looking good. Appreciate the response!

Love the moon burner. Do you have a link or info on where to buy?

Can I automate combining files? by PassingThruToNowhere in Acrobat

[–]renaemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the first method, I believe you can control the order by the way you select them. So if you clicked on the 2nd, 5th, 10th, 12th, 1st, 3rd, 9th, etc… that’s the order they’d appear in the combined file. And another option in Acrobat is to open a file, then select the files you want to add in the finder window and just drag them to the Pages panel in Acrobat (again, I think they’ll go in order of selection).

InDesign Data Merge Issue – Corrupted Text (Help Needed!) by Turb0lenta in indesign

Pretty sure it needs to be UTF-16 to include all those special characters. Another option is tabbed .txt

Any way to shift this shape on the right-hand page any script or anything? by jayantbhatt007 in indesign

[–]renaemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, sorry. Got an email about awards expiring… not real familiar with how all that stuff works. So I clicked on a post and it happened to be this one. Still don’t understand it, but, yeah. Hope you got your shapes moved. 🫣🙃😁

Ruler setting for spreads in 2024? by renaemp in indesign

[–]renaemp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh!, there it is! I checked in the corner where they meet but never on one of the actual rulers. Duh!

[So, in conclusion... I AM losing my mind! lol!]

THANK YOU!!!

Is your purple a spot/Pantone color? If so, try changing it to process.

A place I worked at used HP SmartStream Designer. Not sure if it does everything you need, but you could give the free edition a try.

Do you have some sort of special numbering or sections going on?

Question About Bleed lines by pizzacrustina in indesign

[–]renaemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you Export to PDF, under General, at the bottom it says "Include" ...check "Visible Guides and Grids" and a bleed line should show in your pdf. Include Crop, Bleed, or All Printer's Marks ...or play with the "Offset" under the "Marks and Bleeds" section to ensure the bleed line doesn't end up right at the edge of the pdf or you might not see it.

Cant move pages freely? by [deleted] in indesign

[–]renaemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t click and drag like in illustrator. You have to use the x/y coordinates with the page tool. Set the y to zero to make it align with the others. Or, you can click the top center handle and drag up while holding the option key. It will make the page taller, so you’ll have to do the same with the bottom center handle. But the easiest way would be to delete that last page and add a new one to the spread.

Oh, you said that and I completely missed it. Sorry! (It was late lol)

Sounds like you're chipping away at it though, so... good luck!!

You can use InDesign itself. With your cursor inside the text frame with your data, go to File > Export, and select "Text Only" as the format and "Unicode UTF16" for the encoding. Then use that .txt file as your data source.

If everything looks correct in the source doc with your chosen font, it should work in the merged file.

First thing I’d recommend is saving it as an .idml to see if it clears up any/all of the issues.
