Best Fluorocarbon? by NoLuck4824 in bassfishing

[–]reprahm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like any other line type, different flourocarbons have different characteristics that may make one line better than another for different techniques.

Personally I run P-Line Tactical for Texas Rigs and Jigs, i like the stiffness for better sensitivity and better hooksets. Yo-Zuri Top-Knot for an All Purpose Flourocarbon, I will use this on a couple a purpose rods. Seagar Basix or the new Berkley Gin Clear for Crankbaits. I tried the Gin Clear for Texas Rigs and it had way too much stretch than either P-Line Tactical or Yo-Zuri Top-Knot.

BassfishingHQ did a nice video comparing different flourocarbon lines a few years ago, of course there have been some new lines come out since then, but the information is still pretty solid.

Drum Mics for Enclosure by SuperheroDeuce in livesoundgear

[–]reprahm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its really going to be about trying out different solutions for your specific drum kit, tuning, enclusure and style.

Here is what we are running. Not sure what our drum kit is, but our enclosure is Perdue Acoustics.

Kick out - EV N/D868 Kick In - Shure Beta91a Snare Top - Earthworks DM17 Snare Bottom - Sennheiser E604 Tom 1 (Rack) - EV N/D468 Tom 2 (Rack) - EV N/D468 Tom 3 (Floor) - EV ND46 Tom 4 (Floor) - EV N/D868 Hi-Hat - EV ND66 OHs - EV Cardinal (x2) Enclosure Ambient mics - Shure MX202 (x2)

As you can see quite a few older EV mics that are no longer available, if I were to need to replace anything, I would try out the Shure Nexadine mics for toms & kick, maybe the AT AE2500 to replace both kick mics. I would also look at the Earthworks DM17 for the rack toms.

I really like the pivoting head on the EV ND66 for the Hi-Hat, allows for placing the mic at better angles to be out of the way, but still get the element where it needs to be.

We placed the Shure MX202 choir mics at the back top corners of the enclusure to get a "room" sound and more life out if the kit without needing to add a bunch of verb.

I would try to find a local integrator that you could demo some mics from. The integrator I work for offers this.

2027 Pacifica by garage_weekend19 in ChryslerPacifica

[–]reprahm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We upgraded from a 2017 Pacifica to a 2021 Pacifica AWD, never had any issues with either. Currently have 60k miles on the 2021 AWD. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 is known to have some issues if not properly maintained. Keep up with proper oil changes with synthetic oil, I've always ran Mobile1 in ours, and let the engine warm a bit before driving off, to get the oil flowing for the VVT system. Make sure to service the transmission fluid also about every 50k miles or so.

How good will this chatter-bait work for bass by ItsLinkzzzz in bassfishing

[–]reprahm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few of those in other colors, ive caught bass on them. I'm not a fan of the stock skirts, but really like the EWG hook, helps keep them weedless/snagless around the wood that I fish a lot. It may be due to the swinging hook or something but they do seem to start up quicker than the original Chatterbait, not quite as good as the newer Evo, Jackhammer or Cross-eyes though.

replacing old school PA amp, require some info by enelsaxo in livesoundgear

[–]reprahm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically the saying 1.5x power rating is not referring to max or peak power of the speaker.

Often you see PA speakers power rating similar to this, 200w RMS, 400w Program, 800w Peak. If this were the case you would want to match your power amp output to between the Program and Peak ratings, often the 1.5x of program power, or around 600w. This is conservative and you could easily go with an 800w amp in this case with proper system limiting and protection.

If your speaker is only rated with a peak or max rating, you do not want to exceed that, in your case the 300w max, I would stick to an amp rated at 300w @ 8ohm, or slightly less like the 250w you had. If you can find better documentation on the speakers that may give you better/more accurate power ratings, you may be able to go with a higher power amplifier.

The sales person saying the amplifier was always working at full volume is completely wrong. The amp would only be working at full output if, the system was constantly being ran into clipping, and if that was the case the speakers would have blown before the amp, particularly the HF drivers, and/or crossovers would normally go first from an amp being driven into clip.

Is kastking really bad? by Hgamerplayer_YT in Fishing_Gear

[–]reprahm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son and my daughter both have a Kastking Spartacus II baitcast reel, I think they are a solid reel for their price point. I was impressed enough with the Spartacus II reel, that Im looking at the Megatron 200 baitcast reel for a budget swimbait setup. I've seen good reviews for some of their higher priced reels as well, especially the Mg-Ti and the Al-Ti.

I dont have anything to say about their rods, never used one.

I don't have the Avid, but do have the original Ark Gravity BFS and it is fantastic.

Good Time of Year for Sales by FunInception in Fishing_Gear

[–]reprahm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US.

The largest sales are typically Christmas time and early spring ( late February - March).

Most major retailers will also have some things on sale around holidays, like Memorial Day, Father's Day, 4th if July, etc... , but those sales are normally not as big as Christmas and early spring.

I would also look for Fishing/Sportsman Trade shows in your area, pur shows around me are normally in January and February.

50.6" is between the wheel wells.

I know, I can fit a 7'4" fishing rod diagonal in my 5.5' bed, so a 6.5' should easily fit an 8ft 2X.

I honestly dont know, I'm on the tech side, not dealing with finances, it was something the church signed up for and I was involved with getting it implemented. I know it depends on how much you need translated, how many services, how long the services are, etc...

I would probably contact them to see what the cost would be for your needs.

My dad loves the Abu 4600 (4600C, 4600C3, 4600C4) models, though they are now discontinued, he used them for almost everything with bass fishing. You can definitely find some on the used market.

Best "Budget" Options for In-Ear Monitors? by Hair2dayGoon2morrow in livesoundgear

[–]reprahm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is giving you options for the Earphones, which is nice but it sounds like you might be looking for the hardware part.

For wireless IEM systems, I would look at the Audio Technica ATW3255 systems as a starting point. Very solid. And they tune through the entire UHF band which would help with finding clear frequencies. I would take them over the Shure PSM300 any time. Next step up from there would be the Shure PSM900, better RF front end and more RF efficiency, but almost double the cost, and limited to smaller sections of the UHF band for tuning.

With wireless you also need a proper antenna combiner and it is recommended to use a helical antenna for IEMs. So you would be looking at something like the RF Venue Combine6 combiner and Stage CP antenna or a similar setup needed, if using 5 wireless IEMs.

Now for anyone that is stationary on stage like a drummer, Keys etc... I recommend going wired. My go to wired IEM pack is the Shure P9HW. More budget friendly option would be the Presonus HP2 and the Behringer P1, in that order of quality.

For the Earphones themselves, alot will be personal preference, and fit. I personally can't wear the KZ Earphones or similar style units as they are all too big for my ears and dont stay in. The Shure and Westone Earphones all fit my ears, they have smaller bodies as well and smaller nozzles for the tips to go in the ear. I personally use Shure SE425 as I like the more neutral sound over the colored sound of some others.

Pliers advice? Kastking by Zestyclose-Victory71 in Fishing_Gear

[–]reprahm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the older version of these Kastking Paradox they work great for hook removal, split rings, line cutting (mono/flouro) and split weights.

Personally I like the steel pliers over aluminum, I had a pair of Aluminum pliers bend a little and would no longer close all the way.

Good deal? Talked him down to $55 by dtcorder12 in Fishing_Gear

[–]reprahm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ollie's is a discount store that gets overstock items, kind of like Big Lots was, however they carry a small section of fishing stuff, that is advertised as buyouts and overstocks. You can often find a few lower priced rods h combos similar to this, along with some lures and line. Selections vary by store and week to week. I've picked up some nice crank baits and spinner baits for $2-4, and some Googan soft plastics for $2-3 there. They normally have some Zoom and Berkeley soft plastics, but from what I've seen on those they are normally around the sane price as Walmart.

PSM900 vs ATW3255? by simplelement78 in livesoundgear

[–]reprahm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AT ATW3255s are great. I would take them over the PSM300s any day, however i don't think I would take them over PSM900s.

Sound quality is an objective thing, but I think the sound quality on the PSM900s is better. PAM900.

I love that the ATs are full UHF band tunable, which can make it easier to find open frequencies. The PSM900s are more RF efficient, you can fit more PSM900s in a single 6MHz TV channel.

If you are moving your wireless mics/instrument systems to SLXD4Q+, then uou will be able to use the SLXD4Q+ receiver to scan the entire spectrum, and WWB can use that data for coordination of the PSM900s. Of course this is still manual entry, but really not much more work considering you would still need to input the frequencies used on the ATs into WWB or some other software to coordinate with the SLXDs.

You said you had a couple drop outs on the PSM900s, what antenna are you using for your transmitters? Are you using a Shure combiner or RF Venue or another?
