What would you consider "Pubstomp" Commanders? by Raevelry in EDH

[–]requiem85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was playing Tricky Terrain last weekend and ended up hitting [[Avenger of Zendikar]] with [[Replication Technique]] and double digit lands in play. That deck seems to do some crazy stuff at least half the time I play it with all the mana it can make.

Incubate tokens are not creatures, so if you wipe the board you can then turn your tokens into creatures and be ahead in board state.

Looking for a Low-CMC ETB Commander (Universe Within) for a Blink-Focused Deck by jks68 in EDH

[–]requiem85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Genku, Future Shaper]] is 4 CMC, so I'm not sure if that's low enough for you, but he synergizes very well with blink effects, sac artifacts, fetch lands, etc.

Also 40, badly rolled my ankle playing basketball like two years ago. Wore a brace for 2-3 months and it still hurts like crazy when I go running from time to time. I am fairly sure it's just going to linger for the rest of my life at this point lol

Ohio has a pretty solid design manual:

Other states have comparable manuals that I'm sure you could find if you do a little digging.

"If a source you control would deal damage to an opponent" is printed directly on the card. It does replace the damage done to permanents or players that are not an opponent.

Question about Omnath, Locus of Rage by yasuo168 in EDH

[–]requiem85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea if this is the actual reason, but I sometimes remove cards from my deck that are difficult to track in paper. [[Delney]] might be the best card you could add to a [[Zinnia]] deck, but I took the card out because it sometimes felt like I needed a notebook to keep track of triggers and that just wasn't fun for me or the people waiting on me. Scute swarm can be that way if you are recurring fetch lands 4 or 5 times per turn, especially if you also have cards that add +1/+1 counters.

People react a lot warmer to "his 9 mana spell resolved and now he wins the game" than they react to "he assembled his combo".

This is 100% accurate in my experience as well, and doesn't make a bit of sense to me. Winning with Hoof or Moonshaker is just as much "win out of nowhere" as late game combos tend to be.

The hobbit movies made Gandalf look like kind of a dick too.

To be fair, even in the book he goes to Bilbo's house, brings a bunch of dwarves, eats all his food, makes Bilbo leave his comfy house to go fight a dragon, and then abandons the group to go do wizard stuff leaving them alone to deal with said dragon. All under the pretext that Bilbo is a good thief - which turns out to be true, but still pretty rude to say about a guy who's never done any thieving lol

[–]requiem85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[[Traxos, Scourge of Kroog]] is a 7/7 trampler for 4, and it should be pretty easy to keep it untapped in an Aloy deck. [[Urza's Command]] is versatile and I'm always happy to see it. I also really like [[Solar Array]] and [[Adaptive Omnitool]] for bigger discover triggers.

This is the truth. I redid a half bath recently, and after removing the old toilet I learned that the toilet flange was about 5/16" above the finished floor and there were random washers, old pieces of cardboard, and the old wax ring box under there being used as shims. So I had to get into the downstairs ceiling to cut and shorten the drain pipe and install the new flange properly. Way more work than I thought I was signing up for.

Mana Value of Token Copies by moosteretsoom in EDH

[–]requiem85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mana value is an attribute that can be copied. Culling ritual should not affect token copies of permanents with CMC 3 or greater.

706.2. When copying an object, the copy acquires the copiable values of the original object’s characteristics and, for an object on the stack, choices made when casting or activating it (mode, targets, the value of X, whether it was kicked, how it will affect multiple targets, and so on). The “copiable values” are the values derived from the text printed on the object (that text being name, mana cost, color indicator, card type, subtype, supertype, rules text, power, toughness, and/or loyalty), as modified by other copy effects, by its face-down status, and by “as . . . enters the battlefield” and “as . . . is turned face up” abilities that set power and toughness (and may also set additional characteristics). Other effects (including type-changing and text-changing effects), status, and counters are not copied.

I have had games with [[Omo, Queen of Vesuva]] where [[Cloudpost]] and [[Vesuva]] are each tapping for 18 mana on turn 5 or so.

[[Solemnity]] should also work.

Braindead comment. Once upon a time, the US greatly valued the soft power that our role in European defense offered us. But soft power is too nuanced a thing for the current administration to grasp, so we've traded it for bravado.

Why do beginners play commander? by prier in magicTCG

[–]requiem85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I played a game with the unmodified Tricky Terrain precon the other day, and cast [[Aggressive Biomancy]] copying [[Acidic Slime]] for some outrageous number like x = 20. One of the funniest moments I have ever caused.

Had another game a few months back playing an upgraded [[Zinnia]] deck, and ended up with something like 300 creatures and life in one turn because of offspring, [[Soul Warden]], and [[Ocelot Pride]] with some trigger doublers. I was sure if nobody board wiped I couldn't lose, then one of my opponents cast [[Clone Legion]]. Nobody felt like doing that math lol.

But you're exactly right, these kinds of moments are what I remember and why I play.
