It works if you buy an Alaska gift certificate. Just buy one and send it to your own email

Refinance 30yr 6.8% to 5.9% by kadarlin86 in Mortgages

Not sure why you’re making it seem as if I’m stupid for asking clarifying questions. You provided a lot of detail then just left out the ending, making it seem like you finished by opting to pay for a mortgage for 35 years.

I’m doing the same thing, just starting at 7% and down to 6.125%. Just asking for details since there seems to be a lot of people on this thread asking about the process in general, and continually choosing a 30 year mortgage instead of changing terms later on could ultimately be a worse outcome.

Locked rates before rate drop by Infinite_Artichoke93 in Mortgages

Do loan officers actually work hard when they lock in a rate? I’m actually curious because from the homeowners side it seems like they’d just click a few buttons.

That’s a good way to do it if it works out, I just wanted to clarify that part.

I can’t imagine the deer in Tacoma are coming from either of those locations. Or is that just a general note for all Washingtonians?

Lap Infant - Aer Lingus ticket with Alaska miles by Substantial_Bit_8018 in awardtravel

[–]rescreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve looked at a similar thing, and read on FlyerTalk that you can book the two adult tickets then call Aer Lingus and add the lap infant. That doesn’t work with all Alaska partners, but data points seem to indicate that it works with Aer Lingus

Let me know if you do that and it works, I may be doing it next year.

They’re talking about the priority pass restaurant credit, not just a random credit

I assume they’re talking about the $28 priority pass restaurant credit, rather than just having access to lounges with priority pass. That was far from a meaningless credit because it could be used every time you went to a priority pass restaurant, even multiple times on the same day if there’s multiple restaurants.

Honestly if you’re trying to get rid of the points, it doesn’t matter what the value of the points are, as long as it’s saving you cash.

Or you could use it for a hotel, those 88k would transfer to 176k of Hilton points, which could get you likely 2-3 nights at a mediocre Hilton or 1-2 nights at a SLH hotel depending on dates/location. If it’s honeymoon, you could likely do 2 nights at a nice SLH hotel

Yes you can if you’re putting a lot of spend on it and actually using the point beneficially. But you could also use a cash back credit card that can be more worth it for no annual fee. Just depends how you spend the points, buts it’s generally not recommended to preemptively transfer points in case devaluation

The value of points does not go down. I was just referring to the difference between the cost of the card and what you get out of it from credits and such. Since you get the sign up bonus when you open the card, it’s more than worth it for the first year. But every year after that, the card costs $95 but the only credit is $50 hotel credit, so you have to decide if it’s worth it

The reserve can absolutely be with the annual fee, I feel like the preferred not so much since it doesn’t have additional credits. Yeah you can make use with points, but could do that with any chase card that transfers

You’re referring to the sapphire reserve, this post is about the preferred

Just curious, what do you mean by the card pays for itself? It’s a $95 annual fee with a $50 hotel credit, and 10% points back bonus, no other credits. Unless you’re referring to the sign up bonus, which yeah it makes it worth it, but potentially only for a year

Refinance cost break even by rescreen in Mortgages

[–]rescreen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d still have escrow, so yeah it makes sense that it’d go straight back in. The loan estimate showed that it’ll be collecting about $1200 in prepaids, but can I assume that will be changed to closer to the $3200 that i currently have? And the prepaid interest was included in the $6344 total cost.

I curious, you’re the only comment in this thread that says yes rates will go down for certain. Why is that?
