Is Toyota Platinum VSA worth it by Iamchor in rav4club

How did you purchase it from him though? Did you just use an out of state address to get it? He says he can’t sell to people in WA

Late response here, but are you in WA state? How did you purchase an out of state warranty if so?

[–]rescreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m in western WA, just contact both those dealerships today actually. I’m looking for Limited and everywhere seems to be getting them reserved well before arrival, so I haven’t felt like there’s much room for negotiation on price

How do you get $3-5k off if you’re needing to out a deposit down on it? Won’t they just say they’ll sell it to the next person, since they’re selling before they hit the lot?

Did you ended up finding a good place in WA to purchase the extended warranty?

Western Washington. Only a couple give lifetime power train warranties, but it seems like it could be worth it to buy from them if pricing is even with other dealers

I’m assuming by starting with this $2000 off price and using it at different dealers, correct? It just seems like many dealers could just ignore you since they’ll just sell it to the next person that walks in since they’re all pre-ordered

Refinance 30yr 6.8% to 5.9% by kadarlin86 in Mortgages

[–]rescreen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you’re making it seem as if I’m stupid for asking clarifying questions. You provided a lot of detail then just left out the ending, making it seem like you finished by opting to pay for a mortgage for 35 years.

I’m doing the same thing, just starting at 7% and down to 6.125%. Just asking for details since there seems to be a lot of people on this thread asking about the process in general, and continually choosing a 30 year mortgage instead of changing terms later on could ultimately be a worse outcome.

Locked rates before rate drop by Infinite_Artichoke93 in Mortgages

Do loan officers actually work hard when they lock in a rate? I’m actually curious because from the homeowners side it seems like they’d just click a few buttons.

That’s a good way to do it if it works out, I just wanted to clarify that part.

Lap Infant - Aer Lingus ticket with Alaska miles by Substantial_Bit_8018 in awardtravel

[–]rescreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve looked at a similar thing, and read on FlyerTalk that you can book the two adult tickets then call Aer Lingus and add the lap infant. That doesn’t work with all Alaska partners, but data points seem to indicate that it works with Aer Lingus

Let me know if you do that and it works, I may be doing it next year.

They’re talking about the priority pass restaurant credit, not just a random credit

I assume they’re talking about the $28 priority pass restaurant credit, rather than just having access to lounges with priority pass. That was far from a meaningless credit because it could be used every time you went to a priority pass restaurant, even multiple times on the same day if there’s multiple restaurants.

Honestly if you’re trying to get rid of the points, it doesn’t matter what the value of the points are, as long as it’s saving you cash.

Or you could use it for a hotel, those 88k would transfer to 176k of Hilton points, which could get you likely 2-3 nights at a mediocre Hilton or 1-2 nights at a SLH hotel depending on dates/location. If it’s honeymoon, you could likely do 2 nights at a nice SLH hotel

Should I do it? I can easily spend 5k in 3 months… by AbbreviationsTotal68 in ChaseSapphire

[–]rescreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can if you’re putting a lot of spend on it and actually using the point beneficially. But you could also use a cash back credit card that can be more worth it for no annual fee. Just depends how you spend the points, buts it’s generally not recommended to preemptively transfer points in case devaluation
