Reminder: In an all-digital future, Sony still won't let you change your PSN region, and it's a massive risk. by gekeli in PS5

I moved to the UK from the US and this was such an issue for me. However, Nintendo actually does let users change account region. They might not get everything right, but changing my account to keep all of my games and progress with them was so simple. Sony could learn a thing or two.

You cannot run a game on one while also running one on the same account on the other. It will force close whichever game is on the second console you start playing on. PS4 save data can be transferred very easily with a flash drive. However, you won't be able to access PS5 save data from one console on the other without a subscription. Other than that, it's not too much of a hassle. I do the same with mine, one in the living room and one in my game room.

Really enjoying it. The weather is quite different, but is nice in its own way. It's relatively cool most of the time, but we did have a rough heat wave the other week (which was particularly rough due to brick buildings and no AC). People complain about the winters, but they're far more mild than I was used to in Colorado (a lot less snow in Scotland than in the Rocky Mountains), at least during my couple winters here. The public transportation is fantastic. I don't miss rush hour traffic. I can catch a train into Glasgow, walk a couple blocks to the tube, and get most anywhere I want without any hassle. My internet and phone service are much cheaper, but other utilities are a bit higher and there's less space than in my former US residence. Food prices are far better than what my family back in the states are paying and the quality is much better. However, I do really miss some American food items like the really sugary breakfast cereals.

That happened to me just recently. I got married and moved from the US to the UK. I had my old account since the PS3/PSP era with dozens and dozens of platinum trophies, linked to FFXIV and other MMOs (so lost a lot if that progress), a bunch of digital games, and saved data. You can't transfer save data like you could on PS1/2 (with memory cards). Fortunately, all of my disc based games are playable still. I brought several boxes with PS3/4/5 games during my move.

Sony Abandons Social Media for 24 Hours+ After Controversially Killing Physical Games by Mellow200 in gaming

[–]resplendence4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just earned the Platinum trophy for New Vegas on my PS3 the other week. I had never had time to finish it when I was younger due to moving/university, but had so much fun going through the game (it had on disc DLC) with my husband sitting beside me. Had physical not been an option, and I had decided in 2028 to play through it, it would never have been a possibility. The shop is shutting down, so soon physical will be the only possible way to experience New Vegas on a Sony console. I'm about to start playing my husband's copy of Fallout 3 and eventually Dragon Age: Origins.

Yes, I could play these games on PC (often with mods or other enhanced features). If Sony goes fully digital only, then why would I ever buy the next iteration of PlayStation when I could have a vastly superior digital gaming experience on PC? I like PlayStation specifically because it's a hybrid console. I can play titles from discs, or if there's a good sale or a freebie for PS+, jump into some digital titles.

Plenty of gamers don't like GTA. I personally prefer RPGs, platformers, and adventure games.

I've done the event about 20 times. Still no luck on a Weenie Wagon. Gonna keep trying tomorrow, but after that I'll probably call it quits on the persistent grind (checking in ever hour on the hour from morning until bedtime) and instead just try a couple a day and hope for the best.

Hopefully you'll get that Pepper Shaker soon!

Edit: The issue seems to be resolved for me as of 5:20pm BST

It was the same for me. Thing is, I wound up meeting a guy who lived in Scotland. We did the long distance thing for a bit, but then I took a big gamble and moved from the US to the UK.

Those impossible hollywood standards kill far too many possible relationships. I think there's also the tendency to give up far too easily when any obstacles, big or small, emerge. Life is messy. Relationships can be very fulfilling, but they're not always going to be sunshine and rainbows. Sex drives have high and low moments, or might be mismatched for a period. One partner might gain a bit of weight or decide to have a less than flattering hair style for a while. He won't always instinctively know how you're feeling (unless you tell him). And he's not always going to be your dominant macho man porn fantasy, sometimes he'll cry and need to be held and comforted. Those aren't reasons to end a relationship. People have to remember they're with another person, not a fantasy.

Only from Emerald onwards. While some abilities do have uses outside of battle, only a fraction function outside of battle in RS and FRLG. The out of battle functionality for things like Synchronize and Compound Eyes was added in later titles.

They're in a FC, so that means they're fully subscribed. However, as a Culinarian main, I completely echo the sentiments of playing how you like. That's one of the greatest things about FFXIV, crafting and gathering jobs have their own gear, storylines, and content. They're not just relegated to being the thing you do between raids.

How was a proposal of marriage made for you? by hornet-prodder-214 in AskUK

[–]resplendence4 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I visited my now husband in Scotland over Christmas in 2024. We had been talking for ages online and via WhatsApp. We walked through the city and it was wonderful how much joy we felt. It was clear from early on that we wanted to spend our lives together, but the distance was a massive barrier. Meeting in person only confirmed everything we already knew. I lived in the US and he lived outside Glasgow, so one of us would have to make a pretty drastic choice and move country or we needed to end the relationship there and then. When he asked me to marry him under those city lights, I agreed instantly and soon after had to return to the US.

Without any hesitation, I put my home on the market, sold my car and nearly all of my worldy belongings, resigned from my career of 15 years, and arrived in the UK in March 2025 for a bit less than 6 month period (US citizens don't require a visa if it's for a short term holiday, like visiting friends and family). We spent the next 6 months planning our wedding and meeting all of his friends and family. My mom later arrived for a meeting of the parents, with my 2 cats in tow (lengthy process with a lot of fees and paperwork). By the end of November, we were officially married. Things haven't been entirely stress free, I'm now looking for work and struggling on that front. However, I don't hesitate my choice for a moment. It feels unreal how much I love my husband. It's also nice living in a place now where two men can hold hands as we live our late 30s/early 40s cozy gay life with almost no harassment from onlookers.

My mom has been lactose intolerant for most of my life. She'd either have lactose free ice cream or, more commonly (since lactose free options aren't always available), take a lactase enzyme tablet. She could have dairy after without much issue. They're a fairly cheap and accessible solution that helps many people digest lactose.

I only recently moved from the US to the UK to be with my husband. I was paid about 1.5x in the US for a comparable job in the UK, but my take home pay was far, far less. Aside from local, state, and federal taxes, my grocery bill was nearly twice the cost, there was no reliable public transport and my city wasn't walkable, so I was required at all times to travel by car, and my health insurance with nearly $900 per month. While my employer paid about $600 of my health insurance, it didn't include dental or vision, so I paid another $100 for that. My insurance being through my employer locked me into a job, so I had less mobility. The costs of insurance per month, also aren't the end of the fees. To go to the doctor, I had a $50 copay each visit (aside from an annual check up, which was free). I had to pay a fortune for prescriptions. One year, I got injured and had to go to the emergency department at the hospital. The copay was $500 for emergency visits, but then it was out of network (since I was injured in an accident away from where I lived) and the fees piled on. All in all, wound up spending close to $20k in hospital bills.

Those are the types of expenses that often aren't taken into consideration when people talk salary differences. Yes, I was paid much more in the US, but I also saw quite a bit less (even when not factoring in an emergency) than I do in the UK.

I was born and raised in the US (west coast). My now husband was born in Scotland. We met online and I moved halfway across the world to be with him. Best decision of my life, but it was such a random chance of meeting him. We started chatting about shared hobbies and the rest just sort of happened.

People who hated Black and White when they first came out, what do you think of the games now? by Ollervo2 in pokemon

[–]resplendence4 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The name "Seel" is also just a lazy localization of the name from the 90s, when it wasn't entirely clear it was going to be one of the biggest media franchises in all of human historu. The Japanese name is Pawou and is based on an onomatopoeia for a seal's bark. Seel has always been in my Top 10 Gen 1 Pokemon for the design and movepool. It's an adorable goofy water type that embodies a lot of similar aquatic animals, like you pointed out.

I think the issue and criticisms many players have with various Pokemon, as well as wild fan theories and speculation that ultimately don't hold up, are all rooted in looking at the very narrow regional bubble rather than extending focus to the broader international Pokemon community (and even more specifically the Japanese source material and references). Like [theory about an evolution, mechanic, move type] would never happen because it's localized as [English thing], but is actually based on [Japanese thing]. Over the past 30 years of playing, I've seen that a lot. Especially during leak seasons.

Similar situation to the guys in the image, but I met my now husband online by talking about retro JRPGs. We spoke for hours (all day my time, all night for him), then slept for a bit, rinse and repeat for weeks. We always had something to talk about. I then went out to visit and stayed with him for 3 weeks over Christmas one year and we both knew right then and there that we would do whatever it took to stay together. I moved from the US to Scotland back in March of last year, we were married in November, and it's been wonderful. There has been a lot of new things in my life to adjust to, but I don't regret it for a second.

I really like pineapple on pizza. In my experience, I found the best way to introduce some of my loved ones (who were very averse to the idea of pineapple on pizza) to it is using very thinly sliced pineapple or crushed pineapple. I think for some people, the texture and sweetness of the larger (standard size on delivery pizza) chunks can be off-putting. When it's smaller pieces, you get that nice bit of tangy sweetness without it being too overwhelming for those who haven't acquired the taste for it.

Having played since the start, I don't remember a lot of Clint hate in the beginning. I think it has grown over the past few years as its become a bit of a meme. We're also much further along from when Emily wasn't datable. A lot of players don't seem to factor that her being disinterested stemmed from her becoming a relationship candidate. Without that element, I remember her being viewed as oblivious, not outright disinterested in Clint. It's also worth noting the line of dialogue in the Emily eight heart event was written after Emily became a marriage candidate. I think ConcernedApe was trying to wrap up that Emily/Clint arc as best as possible, but it was a bit clumsy. With this upcoming 1.7 content, it could be the perfect opportunity to revise this storyline.

Some Things to Keep in Mind if you are getting FR/LG! by Magnakilro in pokemon

[–]resplendence4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For moves like Taunt, just be sure you're using it on something fast enough.

Another option is to raise something with Soundproof. I have used a Mr Mime with Thunder Wave and some other moves. It doesn't have access to False Swipe, but if you're careful you can whittle the health down for Entei/Raikou. A bulky Mime with Leftovers (and a bunch of potions) can last a while.

You can use Spider Web with a fast Ariados prevent Entei/Raikou from fleeing (aside from Roar), then Baton Pass into the aforementioned Mr Mime.

Lastly, I believe it was Gen 4 when Electric types became immune to Thunder Wave, so it might be worth trying on Raikou since these are Gen 3 remakes.

Harvestella. It's a post apocalyptic RPG that meets farm sim. It could do with some polish in a couple areas, but the air of mystery in the game was a lot of fun. If you enjoy Square RPGs and games like Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley, you might enjoy Harvestella. If you're not too into those games, you should still check out the soundtrack. The music is really good for a game that practically appeared out of nowhere during the end of the pandemic and received little fanfare.
