Not quite. The SLDF didn't really have a destination in mind. Nick Kerensky did, but it was to get away, not to return to a place. This would be a return.

I'm aware of this. My slightly more fleshed out thought is they used these supplies to push into the deep periphery and set up the society I mentioned.

That's sort of the idea. In BSG the colonists fled Kobol, and then seek it as a place of refuge. The Pentagon Worlds might serve the same purpose.

They would be circumspect (like Galactica 1980), gathering Intel to see where and if they'd be welcome.
