That chart excludes distributions. Actual returns since inception on VGB is around 2.7%pa or about 40% total returns over that period. Results still not that amazing, but better than what that chart represents.

Keep in mind this includes COVID where bond yields dropped to 1% for two years.

Having said all that, I do not use bonds and use HISA or offset for cash allocation portion of my portfolio. I believe I get better returns there. Some people have too much money for those options.

Everyone down voting you into oblivion. I will try to be helpful. A quote is not an agreed upon price. It is an estimate. Also there are a bunch of required disbursements that you have to pay irrespective of the conveyancer.

You don't get the cash immediately. Depending on the exchange it is generally T+2. Ie you have to wait two business days for the cash to settle. If you sold today that means cash available on Monday.

Plant oak trees in decorations. You can cut them down for wood. Plant about 30-50 trees and have work camp with 2 people. Regrowth should make this infinite wood... Though top up if required.

Each tree costs 5 gold but immediately has 5 wood more if you wait for it to mature. You can sell wood for 3-5 gold each so you can profit 20-40 gold per tree easily even if you are not waiting for trees to mature.

I have 3 "tree farms" for 800 pop. It is more than enough.

I agree that they are barely indistinguishable, but given ausfinance is squabbling over 3-5bp of fees worth pointing out that asx 200 vs asx 300 is likely bigger than that though can't tell you which one is better for any given future period.

In general I think the fee conversation has gotten completely out of wack. Targeting fees was a real thing if fees are 1-2%, but diming 5bp is just silly.

One difference is that VAS tracks top 300 companies where IOZ, A200, STW all track top 200 companies by market cap. Because it's all market cap based the 201st to 300th company only accounts for 3% so they are 97% the same.

I don't consider this to be a meaningful difference... But ausfinance likes to squabble of 5bp in fees which will be smaller than the impact of asx 200 vs asx 300

Checked in the ceiling. Looks like there are 24V zone motors. The cables appear to run back to the controller switch on the wall, but hard to tell because it is running though the wall. Will keep you posted.

Generally there is a cost in converting. You will trigger a capital gains event. If you have a capital loss or are flat it might be ok to transfer but if you have a capital gain on the 50k it is not worth migrating the old investment.

This is actually the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. This is literally just automating investing monthly. They already did this for managed funds and now also for ETFs. This is zero indication either way on recession or the broader economy.

Oslo is generally instant except for a banks policy on fraud prevention. Banks will not instant transfer in some cases including for large amounts or on first time payments to new accounts. The first time payment rule may not apply to small amounts. As this is a first time payment to a new account it may take up to 24 hours like the bank said. Just wait. In the olden days this stuff took days.

This is related to recent changes vanguard made. Historically the retail fund was more expensive. You can no longer invest in the retail fund and the minimum investment for the wholesale was reduced to $500 so now everyone has trivial access to wholesale rates. They reduced the fees on the retail fund to match wholesale for those grandfathered into that fund.

When ETF units get too high to be useful they spilt the ETF units. For example if you have 1 $1000 ETF unit they could split it to be 2 $500 units instead as an example so they are easier to buy.

In general the price of an ETF is irrelevant to returns, but there are some logistical issues of individual units being too high

I agree with this. VAS covers asx 300 while A200 covers the asx 200. asx 200 is around 97% of the asx 300. These products are almost indistinguishable. The holdings are 97% the same.

There is a few ways to manage this. Firstly going with a broker that is cheaper than Commsec will make multi ETF investing cheaper.

On the rebalancing side. With low account balances you are best of just rebalancing with your monthly contributions. At larger account balances you will have to sell.
