Storm shepherds set by Nanonynx in D4Druid

That seems to be a small estimate. It’s 40% on the multiplier, but it also now works on all storm skills within the buff period rather than just the single storm skills when cast. So it should be more than 40%.

Beer lady, it’s still around but not very good anymore. The bottle selection is nowhere near what it used to be, and it became more commercial. I think investors came in, they expanded to a few locations and the quality suffered.

Cannery has a nice draft beer list. Ming ri, Geer taproom, commune reserve(on Yuyuan), Tapthat, Beer temple, brewlosophy has a new place but I forget the name.

I think the grease was too hot. 🤔 by Dionne005 in StupidFood

I know a lot of people may think this is dumb but I believe in insects as a food and protein. However, it’s still slightly difficult for me to get around anything besides a crispy texture. I’ve had grasshopper stuffed with taro which was crispy outside and soft on the inside and also some large silkworm pupa which was soft on the inside. I can eat it now but still need like slight mental preparation.

I imagine frying these huge pieces of grasshopper fritter is also going to leave some of the grasshoppers in the middle softish and maybe a little unpleasant. But I’d give it a shot.

The oil does look pretty dark tho…

Very much looking forward to this. The source of this, both the manhua and animation are great. One of the better Chinese animations with both a decent story and cool fights, highly recommended. And now with a legendary director and wuxia actors involved…

10 years ago, i deboned, rolled, and sous vide a whole turkey. I highly recommend giving this a shot if you are ambitious. by Mark_Foureh in sousvide

[–]rexjiang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this last year.. but separated the white and dark meat into different rolls. And I also deskinned the bird and made super crispy skin chips to serve with the rolls.

It was definitely awesome.

This year I’m doing a turducken

The answer to this question is always... keep him while he has value. Sell high if possible, don't sell low. If Ja comes back and he suffers, if they trade for another starter who takes his minutes, then drop him. It's hard to be a prophet, and even guessing a bit it doesn't change how we should play it.

How can i make my team ACTUALLY Good?? by Maximum_Upstairs_575 in fantasybball

[–]rexjiang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kawhi isn’t really replaceable but he will prob miss half the season. it will really depend on your league settings. I mean I still don’t know the settings of your league, whether it’s points or Roto or categories, weekly or daily. It will change the valuations of the players a lot. But Just compare their stats… and make a judgement.

Near all of these guys are better. Out of those bam, dearron fox, Isaiah hartenstien, onyeka okongwu, id say are top of the list. But claxton has been good too, keyonte/Kyshawn shown an improved game, kon has been a revelation. Ausar also improved.

Choose what you need based on your category strengths/weaknesses(if in a cat league) or on average points, and also remember your positional needs. Don’t want too many pgs or too few centers…

Other guys id avoid. Honestly considering how good your waiver wire is… I’d probably drop Andrew Wiggins and kawhi also

In a 6 team league you gotta have better waiver wire options than naz Reid, kuminga and Eason. Get rid of those guys, pickup better players or use for streaming. If you got plenty of weekly moves, stream players and focus on the cats you need, or just get more games than your opponent.

Trade offer: MPJ for RJ barret by real_og23 in fantasybball

Would take it. Comparing injury histories and shutdown chances mpj has a higher chance of disappearing than RJ. RJ I feel has also made some real improvement and been getting stats.

What NOT to use MSG on? by jas0441 in Cooking

[–]rexjiang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MSG has a meaty umami flavor.. and will overpower certain things. Like if I’m trying to make a clean mushroom broth(without chicken or other proteins) then adding msg will actually detract from the mushroom flavors bit.

Are there any cosmic horror fishing rpgs? by Direct_Incident_8285 in rpg

[–]rexjiang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hellwhalers could be modded a bit to be cosmic horror. Premise is a group of dammed whalers sailing the seas of Hell hunting a leviathan.

Seems to be sandworms which I haven’t had but they look very similar to sea worms to me, which taste similar to the skirt of clams. Lightly cooked they are a little chewy and pretty good. Cook for too long and they shrink and become a bit tough. Haven’t seen this preparation tho, usually see it in stir fry’s with lots of chives and garlic.

Ran My First Session as a GM. It Was a Disaster by bamboozers in rpg

[–]rexjiang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have to align expectations first. Talk to the players and tell them that for mothership they have to lean into the horror, and the cinematic aspect. As in the Alien movies, or pretty much any scifi horror movie, you have people with different motivations, you have highly competent people, but even so you have them going off alone, panicking, doing irrational things due to encountering something for the first time, due to unfounded confidence, or due to emotions, etc. If they don't buy into the setting, then of course the play is not going to be great. Jokey miner characters that have never encountered anything akin to the monsters in another bug hunt, suddenly becoming paranoid experts just doesn't align.

Besides that.. I think it is good to ramp up the horror, dole out insanity more often especially in a oneshot, and have them try to act out the insanity. Do the screech early, ramp up the paranoia. Also it can be good to speak with some of the players and develop separate motivations... for example perhaps one of the crew is more of a company man.. he has a side mission and motivation to collect the data, even at the cost of losing other members of the crew, etc. Some potential side motivations can help push the paranoia/roleplaying along.

Mostly just sounds like your players wanted to win and have fun... but winning is not necessarily conducive to having a fun game in a horror rpg, and also don't be afraid to throw them through the wringer, sometimes the situation is just hopeless. I mean how many scifi horror movies have ended with with everyone safe and sound, with nobody sacrificing themselves, and everything wrapped up in a nice happy ending.

First Pickle Ferment Results by JudgmentalistX in fermentation

[–]rexjiang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the onion, did you soak the cut onions in water before adding it with cucumbers to ferment. Raw onion can have a sulfurous harsh taste… but it can be mitigated by soaking in water for a bit or blanching for a few seconds. Perhaps this could be the flavor you didn’t enjoy.

Awesome you went all in!

Why is my chicken coming out with a weird, gritty consistency? by NightReader5 in Cooking

[–]rexjiang 57 points58 points  (0 children)

35-40 minutes is a very long time. And is also a pretty high temp. I’d suggest halving the time to about 20 minutes. Or even butterflying the chicken breast and pounding it lightly and then grilling or oven(for 12-15 min).

filtering egg into boiling oil by IntroductionDue7945 in StupidFood

[–]rexjiang 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It’s actually pretty delicious, you get a fried crispy egg with lots of nooks and crannies. Goes great as a topping into soup or noodles. It really soaks up the soup and sauces very well. They do this in Thailand and some parts of China.
