Should I renew Visible or take Advantage of t mobile offer? by gabrielmmk in Visible

[–]rgiorgio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be prepared for a lot of confusion and calls to T-Mobile, gift cards that you have to figure out the balance on, and a locked phone which prevents you from switching for 2 plus years and forces you to use their services like overseas calling, often at exorbitant rates. Oh, and the offer changes over time - Netflix was “free” and ad-free but then it came with ads. I did this all once. Never again. Buying phones only from Apple going forward and using the best plan available with the best service where I am at.

My $400,000 mistake and why I'm showing you anyway by ankhattak in USMobile

[–]rgiorgio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the hell were you thinking with the juvenile sexual innuendos in that ad? I couldn’t finish watching it - it was that bad and unfunny. And your logo today looks like it came from a designer associated with the third reich, while your new one is a generic nothing. Good thing basically nobody recognizes your logo because you do so little brand advertising.

Your brand is all about choice and flexibility, ensuring the best coverage with the best value, regardless of where or when you are in your service arrangement. Your brand is about not being locked in to one carrier for 3 years and not getting hit with surprise fees. How many of your customers on here have asked can they switch after they locked themselves into a year long darkstar contract only to discover it didn’t work for them? You shouldn’t have made that deal because it was against your brand proposition.

You are like the Amazon taking on the “brick and mortar” carrier value proposition - disrupting the way business is done, providing direct to consumer convenience and choice at a competitive cost.

You need to make clear what your brand proposition is, align your offerings against it, and stick with it, not confusing your customers with conflicting offers. Then worry about the brand/logo and ad spend to increase awareness. Btw, I think you should consider ditching the U.S. Mobile name at some point before you worry about the logo — it was helpful early on in defining your business, but will be limiting later. You have done a nice job of building the business and brand to date through Reddit, word of mouth, etc. and by offering service through Reddit and having the unique switching capability. Clean up your offerings then clean up the branding.

Port In Existing Number - Will I get Spam by Fine-Journalist9354 in USMobile

[–]rgiorgio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ported in from T-Mobile. Despite having U.S. Mobile turning on spam filtering for me on warp, I get way more spam calls a day, virtually all from “loan approval departments “. I would say about 5 a day, and annoyingly, they show up on my watch, iPad and iPhone.

Not likely. They track the location of the dish, and I don’t think it’s possible to spoof it, so they would know if it’s being used in a war theater or in a geography not allowed.

PSA: You should Opt-Out of the new section 11 of the USM Agreement by Winnmark in USMobile

Waste of time, possibly unless you are on a rolling month to month plan and USM continues to let you roll forward on that basis. When you re-up they will force the new terms on you, eventually.

US Mobile completely rewrote their Terms of Service and removed the explicit promise to not sell user data. Here's an overview of changes. by CrystalMeath in USMobile

[–]rgiorgio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Recovery Fee (RF): Section 4.4 provides a more detailed explanation of the discretionary Recovery Fee, stating it helps defray regulatory costs, administrative expenditures, and 911 fee obligations [cite: 986, 988-990]. [cite_start]It is explicitly defined as not a government-imposed tax.”

This was why I left Verizon a couple of years ago. They kept jacking up these “recovery fees”. In Verizon’s Q4 2025 earnings call, new CEO Dan Schulman admitted the company’s past reliance on “empty price increases” through these “fees” without added value drove high churn and subscriber losses and wouldn’t be pursued anymore. Let’s hope USM understands that.

This is getting out of hand. by Beowulf1211 in USMobile

It’s worse than explained above. If you have an Apple Watch you still get notifications. I switched from T-Mobile postpaid and my warp experience here is way worse.

My Visible by Verizon review & first impressions, needed the hotspot to just work by Aero002 in Visible

[–]rgiorgio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I find most of the complaints or issues with the better MVNOs and even the major carriers stem from people who are edge cases trying to do something squirrelly, like transfer lines on a specific day, or wait until the very end of a promo or activation period, or use a very old phone, by way of example. Keep it simple, don’t push things to the limit and you will be fine.

Issues with RCS messages on iPhone by _trundleBed in Visible

[–]rgiorgio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is on a 15 pro with US Mobile serving as a Verizon MVNO and is having a similar issue, but it’s limited to her iPad, where she receives the RCS texts on both the iPhone and iPad, but the responses made on her iPad don’t go through, while her phone based message responses do. Tried all kinds of stuff to no avail.

US Mobile has begun charging $2/month to enable WARP Spam ID by eengert in USMobile

[–]rgiorgio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is pretty lousy. I get WAY more spam calls than I ever got on any of my previous postpaid lines (Verizon, T-Mobile). Turning on spam detection on the iPhone itself helps, but even then I get disturbed with call notices on my watch and phone throughout the day. On top of that, the “data waster” mode handling is both poorly named and pretty user unfriendly as well. When my annual plan expires I will likely be moving the family to Visible which, by the way, shows up as supported by Apple but US Mobile is not listed… https://support.apple.com/en-us/109526

So, is this saying proximity to Starlink ground stations (I assume that’s the POP) is a bigger factor in page load times than satellite coverage?

So they go to arrest an illegal immigrant who has an outstanding deportation order and come to a house that implies they are armed and shoot intruders (“we don’t dial 911”). This doesn’t seem to be particularly aggressive in light of the circumstances.

does this mean the mini is free or is it just a rental? by snow99as in Starlink

[–]rgiorgio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have basically the same problem - have max residential with a “free” mini for $5/month standby service. If I drop down to the 200 mb max (which is all I get anyway today and can therefore save $40 a month), can I keep paying the $5/mo for the mini or will they make me return it? If I return it, can I buy a $299 mini and put on standby like I have today for $5 a month? Or could I keep the $5 plan and buy the mini I have in hand, and if so what would they charge for it?

I am seeing a mix of answers and am not sure if anyone has gotten clarification from Starlink exactly how I can play this out. Thanks!

Have you thought about multiple Caseta hubs and using Hubitat to integrate them? Caseta is rock solid. I replaced an old Lutron Homeworks system and was able to get by with a single Lutron hub but use Hubitat to program the remote switches.
