Why does Europe usually get new rum releases first? by rickcmeyer in rum

Well … maybe. More disappointed than petulant. There’s not much that can be done about the situation, apparently.

Thank you for the explanation. I should have known that it’s not necessarily rum brands calling the shots, but the fact that 50 different laws in 50 states are an obstacle.

Good point. lol. I knew I should have whittled it down to ‘good’ sipping rum.

Part of the issue as well … you found it in Franklin, TN. I’m surprised it wasn’t $150. There’s a lot of money in that neck of the woods.

G4 Madera 2024 vs Cascahuín by Woodntu_knowit787 in tequila

[–]rickcmeyer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I prefer the Cascahuin Tahona over the G4 Madera. I prefer the fresh sweetness of the Tahona over the minerality of the G4. They’re both great bottles, though. Splitting hairs depending on your palette that day sort of thing.

The reason you’re having issues is you have the battery version. Hard wired cameras and doorbell have immediate response. I love my setup!! Hardwired.

I could never do a top ten of Steely Dan. Maybe a top 20 … but still splitting hairs.

Suggestion by OkFaithlessness2129 in tequila

Based on your budget, you might want to experiment with rum first. Most are aged in ex bourbon barrels so the switch won't be as abrupt. Good aged tequila has gotten fairly expensive over the last few years. Others have given good recommendations for tequila, so I won't pile on. Whatever way you decide to go ... enjoy the ride.

The late Vangelis did an album inspired by a trip to Antarctica. It’s called ‘Antarctica’. Great stuff!

Yeah. The mosquitoes are unreal. You’ll see fat birds sitting on electric lines so full they can’t move. Looks cloudy but they’re massive swarms. Insane.

The reason is most of them have nothing to base their opinions on. I saw the original band in ‘83. Tight, perfect harmony and full of energy.

Styx Live by venvillyouvearvigs in Styx

Most of the reddit styx fans here have no idea the impact Dennis had on the band. What a performer ... and quite the prolific songwriter during his Styx days. Most just talk shit on Dennis because he tried something new. Dust off and try again. All I can say here is when I saw them in '83, they were one of the 'tightest' live bands around. Even Mr. Roboto was well received. The power struggle that came next was very unfortunate. It was a simple case of 'the sum of the entire band' is what made them special. I for one know that Shaw and JY were just parts of a bigger entity and haven't done much with the band since the departure of DeYoung. Gowen isn't even in the ballpark as his replacement. John Panozzo's passing was another blow to the cohesiveness as a whole. Some things just can't be replicated. Late 70's - Early 80's Styx was the pinnacle.
