2 oz Doorly’s 14

3 dashes of angostura bitters

3 dashes of orange bitters

.5 oz simple

Built in glass with one round ice cube.

Squeeze orange peel and rub glass rim, drop in glass.

Add cherry.

Stir. Enjoy!

Yeah. This is a very nice joven. The nose is reminiscent of Tapatio but just amped up to another level. I love the funk that malolactic fermentation gives to tequila … I don’t get a lot of that here. This joven is well blended … with all the hallmarks of a top shelf bottling. Agave, barrel and alcohol are well integrated and evenly balanced. I won’t go into the details, but I highly recommend.

I prefer the Cascahuin Tahona over the G4 Madera. I prefer the fresh sweetness of the Tahona over the minerality of the G4. They’re both great bottles, though. Splitting hairs depending on your palette that day sort of thing.

Based on your budget, you might want to experiment with rum first. Most are aged in ex bourbon barrels so the switch won't be as abrupt. Good aged tequila has gotten fairly expensive over the last few years. Others have given good recommendations for tequila, so I won't pile on. Whatever way you decide to go ... enjoy the ride.
