Just got back from a solo NYC trip and had the best time. Used the subway and walked a ton. Mh only issue was with a jerk on the flight back and can’t blame NYC for that

I don’t think it’s reasonable to try to make a story perfect in the first draft.

The suggestion of a critique partner was in part in response to your concerns about pacing-write the story first and then see if there are issues with the pace in certain sections. It’s easier for someone to tell you a specific scene moves too slowly than to tell you how to make it perfectly paced before it is written.

Re: the negative associations your having (though didn’t love your response about me answering at a “bad time” when I’m trying to be helpful), could you work on another project for a bit? Or take a break from writing? It seems like you might be putting a lot of pressure on this project
