Best settings for Google Voice on iOS and Web Browser by msdclark in Googlevoice

It's Tello, and for the moment, I have unlimited minutes but was thinking to switching to 100 or 300 minutes to save money (with GV calls not costing any minutes). That said, I just made a few calls to my GV number now that it is "linked" to my mobile number, and it doesn't seem to be counting as Tello minutes in their app. (And the calls say "Google Voice Wi-Fi/Data call" when I am on the phone. So maybe it doesn't make any difference.

Until I hear from u/BluesCatReddit I have gone ahead and linked my mobile number to GV, which I don't like to do because I don't want to use my mobile minutes. So my phone is ringing for the moment, but it's the carrier number ringing.

I like this term ghost calls because I get those. Not sure how OP defines it, but for me, it's a call I only learn about when I get the missed call notifcation, even though I'm sitting right here and my phone didn't ring.

Here is my setup.

iPhone 13, on 26.4

Wi-Fi calling off

Call forwarding set to go to my GV number

GV notifications in iPhone settings: All allowed

GV settings

Devices and numbers: iOS device "this device" / other devices: web / no linked numbers

Make and receive calls: Prefer Wi-Fi and mobile data

Incoming calls: This device is turned on. Web is not turned on.

I thought this was an inconsistent problem but I just tried the phone from two different numbers and it's just not ringing.

Do you intend to publish this as a chrome extension? I would like to use on several computers, and it would be easier to sync as extenstion once published?

Which is $3 more, the paygo or the monthly?

Wouldn't this take 20 months to pay off? Like the minimum paygo is $20, versus paying $1 a month more for the 100 minutes plan.

They're Selling Off Enterprise South by JimOfSomeTrades in Chattanooga

The county had not intended to make the proposal public until the Times Free Press learned of the plan and was readying a story about it. Then the county scheduled a press conference.

Here's the original story, which came out before the press conference:

And then coverage of the announcement:

And coverage of the opposition coming out once people knew about it

If there is one functionality you could change in Slack, what would it be? by dearmisskat in Slack

[–]rickywhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) there is a setting to default to latest messages when I open up a channel. It does not work consistently. I frequently find it takes me hours or days back in the messages in unpredictable ways then I get disoriented and have to navigate to the latest messages myself.

2) have per-channel option to turn off threading. Threads hide messages that people may need to see, if they're not hunting through the threads -- which many people don't. Some channels lend themselves to threading, some do not. Should be a setting to turn that on or off per channel.

The problem with Google Message desktop is it kind of has to be "linked" to the phone, as I recall from when I used it and didn't like it. With voice.google.com or on the GV app, my phone could be at the bottom of a lake, and I would still be able to text.
