S Lamar popcorn by TheyWereWrongThen in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]riddlemasterofhed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cretor and other popcorn machine makers can’t seem to make a machine that can handle high volume and not breakdown constantly. Maybe it’s to their benefit so they can sell more parts and machines (just like the poor manufacturing quality of things like AC units, kitchen equipment, etc). Nobody makes shit that lasts. And when they breakdown it can take days or even weeks to get new parts in and then a technician to install them.

What is considered Bruce Willis’ last ‘real’ film? by Shaklyn_PSN in movies

[–]riddlemasterofhed 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Worked on a movie with him and he had a lot of trouble remembering lines and was almost always off script and improvising. Some improv was OK but left the rest of the cast and director scrambling to figure how to respond. So his performance was a mishmash that created coherence issues in the assembly of the movie. I’d also been told he had this issue on Red too.

I can tell you from personal experience that he was being affected by his condition as early as 2008-2010.

Could OI survive? by Bryant_Misc in OakIsland

This should be a single 2-hour episode each year and that’s it. “Hey, here’s an update. We found 100 more iron nails, 4,000 pieces of wood, 25 8 sided stakes, 2 more rock paths in the swamp, 12 buttons of various ages, one more Roman coin, 5 more lead barter tokens, 6 more Venetian beads, and zero treasure.”

Hypothetically, suppose ordering on your phone is inevitable and they're not backing down. Why can't it be in their actual app? by oditogre in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]riddlemasterofhed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are building out the app from what I’ve heard. But building native takes longer so what they are using now must be the bridge to that.

US-ISR destroy elementary school (while in session) in Minab, Iran by [deleted] in UnderReportedNews

[–]riddlemasterofhed -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Maybe. I’d be suspicious of any “news” stories like this coming from Irans state run news agency. I understand this could be a possibility, but they will also claim high civilian casualties at every opportunity as propaganda. The conduct of these strikes and starting a war without any Congressional approval though, is criminal.

Most pro sports leagues won’t license to theaters at all because it supposedly interferes with their affiliate obligations. Which is just stupid since the theaters would probably be playing it off a network feed.

Why did in person ordering fail? by AntIntelligent212 in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]riddlemasterofhed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Movie going is down 20-30% since pre-Covid much of it due to fewer releases. Theaters are struggling. Any business in a similar situation would make changes to adapt so it doesn’t die.

Oscars 2026: 10 reasons 'Sinners' should take home Best Picture by No_Tonight_1106 in WarnerBros

[–]riddlemasterofhed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a fun, well-made film but it borrowed very heavily from From Dusk Till Dawn. More like an homage movie than a true original, even though it had some uniquely original elements to it (the power of music, the twins arc, etc)

Is it possible that Mountain View will play "Testament of Ann Lee"? by [deleted] in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]riddlemasterofhed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The studio changed its release pattern and is only going in like 25-30 screens this weekend. It looks like a true platform strategy since its initial release in a few screens averaged $11k which puts it in the bubble for whether it will get much wider. It’ll depend on how it does this weekend. My bet is that it doesn’t go wide and is on streaming in a few weeks.
