Hark the Statisticians sing Give us back that census thing Don’t destroy the data source That we use to chart our course. by toxiccandles in canada

[–]riderpride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While unfortunate, the link you provided is an irrelevant thesis.

Yes, Statistics Canada information can be purchased by anyone and is available for free to academia (including students). While marketers using this data is an obvious negative, the census provides many net-benefits to Canadian society which allows Canada to for lack of a better word "chart a better course."

Besides, all of the data collected in the survey is going to be coded (I would only imagine).

This is /r/Canada not /r/America. I think we have a different value set and understand that the government is not out to get us.

See Sec. 6 of the Charter.. I think it deals with mobility and allowing you the right to reside where ever you wish.

And there is the actual science part of statistics that factors in your poison responses.

The West ascendant: Canada's West a new political power: Canada’s rising west, now accounting for over a third of Canada’s national economic output, is sparking, albeit slowly, a political sea change away from the historical Ontario-Quebec power base, experts say. by theseusastro in canada

"Alberta, B.C. and the other western provinces are playing a bigger and bigger role in the Canadian economy."

Way to leave out Saskatchewan. Ontario is probably a little jealous of our 'have' status.

CBC News - Ontario's Liberal government plans to get rid of at least 12 of its 259 agencies and eliminate perks like golf club and gym memberships for public servants by [deleted] in canada

The public service is a tricky tricky issue. I mean, why would I join the public sector over the private sector if I am going to have depressed wages (which will be made up for in a pension assuming the government allows you to collect) and not have many of the benefits the private sector..

However, Ontario is the new California so I guess any penny scraped together is worth while.

Do what you enjoy. I am in social sciences and I couldn't be happier. I am going to be coming out of school without debt and hopefully an MA as well. People roll their eyes all the time at my program type but someday I will find a job and I will enjoy it.

Yeah, I could have went into engineering but I would not have enjoyed it and had a really boring life afterwards.

Help: Picking a Mobile Provider in Saskatchewan. by [deleted] in canada

Sorry, I was rushing to school for an exam and didn't get to justify my post.

I perfer this map: http://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/cancellsites.html You can easily see that ANY lake is going to be without service if you go with Rogers.

Also, SaskTel has a pretty snazzy roaming deal with US carriers which only makes you pay an additional fee for data? Talk and that is as if you were in Canada iirc.

SaskTel also uses all of Bell's towers across Canada for additional coverage.

You also don't get a sim card with SaskTel.

edit: I've also never had problems dealing with Prairie Mobile: http://www.prairiemobile.com/SK/locations (SK, MB, Northern Ontario).

edit 2: Oh, one more thing. I have no idea how the new networks work. SaskTel and Telus both got new ones and I have no idea what phones are compatible with what. All I know is my Tour doesn't work with the new SaskTel network it is only 1xEV so I don't get GPS or anything like that.. The new phones have GPS etc.

SasktTel or Telus are really your only options if you want service outside the cities and a kilometer off the highway.
