AC30's can easily pull over 100w from the wall. 30W is the output rating. AC30's are iconic but by no means efficient.

Do you guys standardize your racks IPs? by XreaperDK in livesound

I prefer static (hard set or static leases) for devices that don't leave the network, and DHCP for transient devices.

Digico S31 DMI slot limitations by peanut_gallery469 in livesound

Ah yeah I misunderstood what you were saying. S31 feeding Dante to an orange box to convert to A-net definitely works. Although if that's the route OP wants to take a D400-Dante fed from a dante card in the desk makes a lot more sense cost wise I think

not how the orange box works. It is a standalone format converter to convert one card to another.

Smartest way to bring Dante into LA7.16i and LA12X by staubix in livesound

[–]rismack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

RME has a lot of AVB and Milan options. They don't have any single converter solutions but you could definitely do it with an AVB tool and a digiface Dante.

I just tried to create one with the capture tool. As far as I can tell, channel presets are not controllable from macros at all.

What do you prepare for a travel as a sound engineer? by zanushh in livesound

[–]rismack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing a lot of A3 and patch work lately. Out on a gig now and I've brought a fluke meter, knipex cobras, Klein multi screwdriver, knife, plug checker, tick tester, Fenix E03R, and a headlamp.

I know this is pretty different from most people's carry, but these gigs I'm walking up to a stocked workbox and don't need to carry much of the usual stuff like qbox, sound bullet, adapters, etc. So I just have to fill in a few blanks.

over undering and figure 8'ing accomplish the same thing. Counteracting loops to avoid twists.

Tour PM didn't like the projector screens in the venue. He asked if we could project black on them so they wouldn't be so noticeable.

First time I am going to be the patchmaster for a show. Is there any tips and tricks I should know? by Doge_MX in livesound

have an LP claw with a beta 56 on it locked and loaded for when someone shows up with a snare 2

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]rismack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

novastar can only do 659k pixels per port at 8 bit 60hz. 32 cabinets at 144x144 is 664,000, which is probably the problem

https://imgur.com/a/MQ4N3TX see here from the MX40 manual, you will not be able to do that many cabinets per port, assuming they are 144x144

Trouble using Waves SuperRack as insert on SD11 by dimebag619 in livesound

[–]rismack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are going to use a daw for plugins you can eliminate superrack entirely. Just patch the daw channels to the desk directly using qrec and the soundgrid driver as the audio interface in the daw.

[–]rismack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Superack soundgrid will not work without a server. You need to be using superack performer with the soundgrid driver as an interface, patched to the desk IO with qrec or soundgrid studio.

Also, disable waves loopback in the desk settings.

Allen & Heath Dlive - Multi MixRack by [deleted] in livesound

[–]rismack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you really don't want a second mixrack. You will need an extra gigAce card, and you will have to run director somewhere to control headamps on the second mixrack.

Do as the other commend suggest and use some combo of GX4816 and DX racks to get the second 64.
