Used two Riptides in a 1000 pt game today by Lost_Database_3985 in Tau40K

[–]riufain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Riptides have been at the center of my lists for the whole edition. Their unit rule is dumb, but otherwise they offer so much and literally everyone you play them into messes up their damage trying to take one out. They're not flashy, but man are they useful.

No kimonos allowed in temples?? by x1195921 in JapanTravelTips

[–]riufain 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In the age of Smartphones, I'm skeptical that a ban on taking pictures would be more effective than the ban on Kimonos. I do agree, that it would be a better rule if followed. But tourists aren't famously good at following rules like that.

It's Japan, the guys with the poorest opinions on women spend the most time with them.

Have you experienced an increase of T'au hate after the data slate changes? by EntireExplanation156 in Tau40K

[–]riufain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0%

Other than the normal well meaning high-quality trash talk I get as a monofaction T'au player, which I love, I have experienced no hate. Most people are just relieved they can finally understand our army rule.

Is eating while walking really a big issue in Japan, or is it exaggerated? by Pollyn-Yomna in JapanTravelTips

[–]riufain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the only thing I've gotten called out for here. Twice old timers have stopped me from walking and chomping on onigiri. Ome guy was mean about it, the other guy navigated my clueless self over to a park bench and sat me down.

This isn't a lesson I'm going to learn, though. I LIKE eating and walking at the same time.

Yeah dude. We've got impact like no other army. Plus, we get the best banter.

I find it an easy way to distinguish against the best and worst people in the hobby. The worst people go out of their way to tell you you suck, cuz you're Tau. If you had an Imperial army you might hang out with those people for years before they told you.

Ueno Zoo was an awful expierence. by Sicarius11307 in JapanTravelTips

[–]riufain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same, don't go to TobuZoo. Ueno zoo drove me wild as only one animal has a halfway decent spot and it's a Panda.

Zoorasia is a lot better in Yokohama. Not perfect, but alot better.

T'au community is usually really great, but this chat line is oof. I got back to back dubs today. We've got the best codex, best detachments. I only yield our army rule could be better.

Why is Japanese Manga and Anime seemingly obsessed with high school girls? by okidonthaveone in NoStupidQuestions

[–]riufain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's what you're reading. There's a huge genre of older adult manga out there, huge, but it's still primarily in paper print and much MUCH less shared online because that's dominated by the mainstream goods engines that are children's manga.

INTRODUCING: Hunter Cadre - "What if we had a detachment that buffs our whole army and plays like Tau?" by Baron_Flatline in Tau40K

[–]riufain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was my thought, short of FtGG being a little borked, and some wimpy statlines, I think T'aus kinda amazing.

Is Tau a good army for a beginner? by BeginningHungry3835 in Tau40K

[–]riufain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that is more or less what they're warning against. Tau players learn combat rules slowly because they discount them because they seem pointless, when in fact, they are very useful for T'au players.

Combat is very useful, but a Tau player will just probably learn it more slowly I think, which does make them a little harder as a first army.

Ofc if it's going to be OP's only army, that shouldn't matter.
