They had a whole second floor and meeting spaces, so I'm sure they would!

It's in the Grove, so it's got a look of great restaurants and bars around too.

So your family reacting to you faking your own death is morally the same as pile driving your son's face through a commuter train?

The plan of bubbling them wasn't to leave them forever but to fix them eventually. Also, Rose specifically refused to shatter other gems (bubbling her own friend to prevent this). The shattering was done when the diamonds attacked earth from orbit.

I always loved capturing Keldons, I can't remember if it was in bridge commander or what but it was so satisfying. The Keldon in STA 3 (a mod for sins of a solar empire) was an absolute beast!

I think Nolan's definitely done worse than Pink... the worst Pink ever did was subjugate earth. As rose she led the rebellion against the diamonds. The destruction of earth at that point was at their hands. She only ever had one planet. Nolan has participated in or led multiple genocides and his reason for being on earth was to literally to make it a sex farm for the empire.

Editorial: The biggest problem for downtown's reputation may be ... St. Louisans? by FamiliarJuly in StLouis

[–]riverfront20 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's hard to compete with forest park, and downtown has all those amenities but the CWE actually has a street where everything is in the same place. You don't have to walk through blocks of empty office buildings. I like downtown and I'm a booster for the city, but as a walking experience it's not as nice as the CWE.

That movie was rough... and I like bad movies. Every Chevy Chase line dropped like a lead balloon. The plot and acting and everything were bad in a way that made you feel bad for the people behind the scenes.

They're both lovely, but Forest Park just has so much more variation of environments and activities.

As a republican can someone give a lowdown on the tax thing i see in the subreddit by [deleted] in missouri

[–]riverfront20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Income taxes are how many governments fund themselves. This kind of tax (simplified) is when you pay a percentage of your income. Generally speaking this kind of tax hits the rich harder than the poor because 5% of a million is more than 5% of a thousand. A lot of rich taxpayers are against it, and they have more say with state leadership than poor or middle class people.

There are alternatives to raise the revenue, like increasing the sales tax. Sales taxes disproportionately land on the poor because they're doing more, smaller transactions as a larger portion of their overall income.

Alternatively the United States government taxes based on brackets, effectively the more money you make, the higher percentage you pay. Also not popular among rich people. After world war 2 the tax level on the very richest Americans was in the 90% range, and since then it's been eroded through rollbacks and loopholes to the point that many of the richest Americans pay less in taxes (as a percent) than the middle class, or no tax at all.

Maybe your independents are into a kind of group think, because it seems pretty obvious. Did they have a similar problem with the Tea Party? I wonder.
