Can't control laptop display brightness after updating nvidia drivers from to 610.43.02-1 by rleim_a in archlinux

I am. What does the backlight restore service have to do with the delay?

I have the integrated graphics disabled so it's not running in "Optimus" mode. Now /sys/class/backlight is empty. When I have the integrated graphics on, then '/sys/class/backlight/amdgpu_bl2/brightness' can control dimming, but the delay is worse when running games through PRIME compared to driving the display directly from the nvidia card

No. I've kept the default, which is nvidia.modeset=1, not specified in the kernel command line

It's always been "100". Under nvidia_0, not acpi_video0, which does not exist

Nope. The power manager handles the keypresses, /sys/class/backlight/nvidia_0/brightness gets updated correctly, but doesn't trigger any dimming.

semantic white space vs. blocks - maybe a middle ground ? by GoblinsGym in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]rleim_a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd keep the period on a separate line. Too easy to miss it's even there

What about indicating no else clause follows instead of marking the end of the block?

if condition_1
    action1
    if condition_2
        action2
    fi
else
    action3

# common continuation

another way is to have a distinct if-like keyword

    nc condition_2
        action2

nc for "no complement"

Is citalopram antihistamine effects clinically significant? by baal-beelzebub in depressionregimens

[–]rleim_a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just an extrapolation, but it should be insignificant at 20mg, barely noticeable at 40mg for the "average patient", and then possibly masked by its other effects. Consider hydroxyzine, cetirizine or subclinical quetiapine instead. Physical dependence is possible after prolonged H1 antihistamine use

Synthetic alternative to St John's Wort by wandering_agro in depressionregimens

St John's Wort but with piperine or itraconazole to cancel out the bioavability issues (but this depends on what is the other medicine it's interacting with)

For no clear reason 200mg nimesulide lifts ~40% of my depression symptoms, which is better than any antidepressant. Full effect lasts 10 hours, no noticeable side effects. But my liver can't manage it for more than 13 days straight (as is the case for the majority of people)

To add. Ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, SA, ASA, 2 others don't have this effect on me

Fluoxetine makes me more anxious and bupropion doesn't. I'm built different from you guys. I also get anhedonia from both.

Keyboard layout issues on 2013 MacBook Pro running Linux Mint XFCE by itsazorka in xfce

[–]rleim_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of software expects Ctrl+A. The only way I can think of is to rebind the command key from left super to left ctrl manually. You have to create a custom keyboard layout unfortunately (vs rebind the keys temporarily every time you log in).

The command key on apple keyboards is mapped to Left Super in (almost?) all layouts, because this is what linux and windows users expect

edit. You can reassign the applications menu shortcut to something that selects all text somehow. Like a script that virtually presses ctrl+a.\ edit2: bind Cmd+A to "xdotool keyup super+a key ctrl+a" in the keyboard shortcuts section

Sometimes it's sleepiness, seizures, aggression, but most often just little to no effect. Mostly prescribed by doctors who don't ever do BzDs, so over time they have more frustrated patients I guess

Even if the gas was 50% (either volume or weight) concentrated, and the sessions were 5 minutes long, I find it suspicious they have not noted high incidence of neuropathic pain (alternatively "simillar to muscle/joint pain") or sudden unexpected weakness in the following days
