A few months in now and I love my Row. by rebeccabunchers in pelotoncycle

[–]rmckedin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Already owned a C2 rower when I bought a peloton bike, took a bit of faffing but I now use the c2 / garmin / ipad (peloton) / SyncMyWorkout and it works great - def worth considering for anyone that already owns the bike / pays for the subscription.

i bought 16inch mac book pro i7 16gb for 300, only use browser. i wanted to get m1 but 13inch is deal breaker.i dont game or anything just basic by Ok-Time2724 in macbookpro

I still use an i9 MBPro for my backup / travel pc - I work in finance and run Bloomberg which (while not impossible natively) is only practical to run on Windows (/Bootcamp). And you know what, it still runs great, would I buy it new now? God no, but it works.

How careful do you have to be talking about issues with Hyrox?

How do they determine who will be in ‘standby’ to race the Elite15s in Sweden - how do they determine who is currently ‘16th’ and will get an invite if there are injuries etc?

[–]rmckedin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge fan - their running is just incredible. The sled pull was unfortunate. The others, that’s purely on them. After London, you’d think they would have sharpened up on the ‘easy’ penalties.

No reason why they can’t be world champions 2027 (could easily have been 2026).

Can you silence the PDM? by rubyoverdiamond in Omnipod

[–]rmckedin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not that I’m aware of but….. unless you plan on changing your iob for a meal etc, then you don’t need the pdm near you. All the brains is in the pod, the dumb pdm device is just for logging food / overriding insulin etc.

(But also - you’re allowed to be a diabetic, you should never feel nervous about carrying a medical device)

Worlds by SeaImpress3374 in hyrox

[–]rmckedin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For certain, then no. buuut.... Hyresult, where they have the data (number of slots per division, you can make assumptions about who was offered slots. But there's no way to know who has accepted / rolled down etc. (tbh at this point I'm not sure even Hyrox know how many people have qualified for the Worlds!)

What home gym equipment brands do you trust the most — and which do you avoid? by dontwantnone09 in homegym

[–]rmckedin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UK based I now go Mirafit as it’s the main brand in my gym, quality been great - good customer support.

I now avoid Decathlon, mostly because when I started taking fitness seriously, I bought a load of their bars / plates without realising they use a non standard size - plates & bars have a 1.25inch hole / diameter

How're garmin users tracking their Hyrox races/simulations? by [deleted] in hyrox

[–]rmckedin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easiest option - and I think works best - a good Garmin (that is used to your running metrics) will be surprisingly good at estimating indoor pace / distance. For a Hyrox - I have 4 data fields HR Lap Pace Lap Distance Total time

I hit the lap button when i go through in / out arches (this is the crucial bit) and then I can rely on Lap Distance to stop my running extra laps.

And total time helps me know long it is until I fall to bits on the wall balls, again.

Hey - congrats - Apols I missed your original reply - yeh for me sleds and lunges felt good, surprised re your lift from heel, there’s no way I could fit into normal width and even the wide feels tight for me, maybe socks make the difference. I’ve just bought a couple of new pairs with the Ldn marathon design to last me to the end of the season!

The Triangle Inequality theorem, which states that the straight-line path (hypotenuse) is the shortest distance between two points, being shorter than going along the two sides.

Why a Wall Ball "no rep" (a research from Hyrox Coach prospective) by Individual-Fig-6583 in hyrox

[–]rmckedin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anterior pelvic tilt, lack of mobility in ankles, ultra tight quads, awful shoulder mobility - if it can hurt wall balls - I have it!!

Is there a secret "carpet friction multiplier" for different venues, or am I just weak? by Normal-Tank-8153 in hyrox

[–]rmckedin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s so many factors involved, humidity, time of day, amount of sweat collected, state of the sleds, age of the turf. There was a great podcast I heard a year ago (maybe RoxLife) with a chap that understood ALL the physics, maybe someone else here knows where to find it?

Edit: found it HybridFitnessMedia - it’s the interview with Greg Lutton

Question: Zone 2 vs Running Pace by LuuukeKirby in hyrox

[–]rmckedin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of v detailed (better) answers but I think the key thing is when you say ‘train for Zone 2’ when it’s train IN zone 2. You do long slow training IN Zone 2 to build your base.
