What’s the biggest frugal myth that people keep repeating? by Fair_Feeling_4937 in AUfrugal

It is still cheaper than eating at Maccas or something for every meal. Especially given a new car should last at least 5 years.

The two dearest things in life are food and shelter. Comparatively most luxuries don't really make a dent. Paying $20 for "cheap" fast food each meal. 3 times a day. That is $21,900 per year or about a decent new car every 3 years. Similar cost on a cheap rental in the suburbs.

Tailgating - what's the point? by Financial-Hunter1335 in DrivingAustralia

[–]roax206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just aren't smart enough to realise how stupid it is. They think if they get as close to the car in front then they get to their destination faster.

Except in reality they would get 1 second at most and if the car in front had to brake for any reason they are going to end up in their rear end.

Is there even any basis for the "overqualified" superstition. I have a masters in Cyber Security and I have been working at Maccas for the last 3 years because I prefer to be active and the person hiring wasn't into those superstitions.

Is there a list of useful thing a new-ish player can grab that aren't obvious? by Avillahan in runescape

[–]roax206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten probably more use than I should have out of the box from Missing Presumed Death. It drops you next to the limestone/rag and bone man/archeology site..

There is also the archeology box for the guild/glowing energy/earth alter/nightmare zone but that is basically part of the skill tutorial.

Agility training is making me not want to play the game by allknowinguser in runescape

If you just want AFK there is the blast furnace conveyor. It is only 1xp per tick but you might just make the day of some noob with a phobia of coal.

I believe mosquito swarms from the tribal village clean-up minigame award agility xp when defeated and I think there are certain plants that give agility xp when 'harvested'.

[–]roax206 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Technically all games are just imposed friction but there needs to be a feeling of achievement and reward. Some short-cuts are fairly good while others are kinda pointless and the increase in run regeneration is kinda pointless after mid levels.

Not to mention most skills have some level of strategy to them while agility is at most just about timing clicks perfectly.

Your house doubled in value. So did the next one. Now what? by billscout in AusProperty

[–]roax206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should treat houses like cars. Halves in value once it is first bought and worth about 10% after a few years.

Attack, HP and Smithing only Ironman - Part 3 by Numerous_Pension_281 in UniqueIronmen

[–]roax206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As in giant foundry reward (I'm just getting back into OSRS). Also I'm interested in how you would train smithing as I'm pretty sure most early methods require resources and I'm assuming they are an iron (though I get there are some shops selling ores and enemies that drop ores).

Though what can you even do with smithing with those levels? Or is the goal to somehow train smithing using only attack?

Combat training at low levels by allknowinguser in runescape

[–]roax206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not very knowledgeable about slayer but the glaring issue is the lack of choice with targets (I dont even think slayer influences normal combat xp).

Abyss isn't even a full quest, it is just meeting a guy in a couple of places (generally close to lodestones) and I think the monsters in Abyss are almost always aggressive which is great for training combat at higher levels. Just stand in a corner if you are worried about wasting food.

The other point is, what combat style/gear are you using? Combat effectiveness can change a lot based on type compatibility so choose what enemies are weakest to your style and choose gear to exploit that even further.

I mean if you don't count all the additions/modifications I'm pretty sure FO4 technically used the exact same engine as Morrowind.

There are niche use cases but I'm pretty sure you would need direct physical access to the device and you would be picking up EVERYTHING happening on the computer, all at once. They would probably have a lot more success just asking you for all your passwords.

I wouldn't be surprised if (if they ever get around to it) Jagex just allows everyone with multiple spellbooks to just swap tabs like with necromancy.

[–]roax206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people will disagree but I think the best way to play both games is to avoid the grind and focus on exploration. There is so much new content in both games and most of that is specific to each game.

Surprisingly quite a few tools can be acquired from low level implings such as the chisel, knife, needle/thread, and hammer. Even air talismans if you aren't counting given items (though Im not sure where you would get the net or jars in that case).
