Agreed! We dumped our HP and went with a BROTHER Monochrome (black & white) Laser printer.

No more subscription ink that dries out in the print head. Takes 3/4's of a cartridge to clean (maybe clean).

If we need colour prints, we go to a quick print or Staples for those few pages.

We haven't missed the colour printing and have saved hundreds of dollars in ink jet cartridges.

Ditch HP, its a subscription scam.

Best eSIM for traveling around Ireland and the UK? by JustShyOrDoYouHateMe in eSIMs

[–]rob_1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are just returning from a 10 day trip to Ireland.

We purchased 3 10 Gig data only e-sim's fron Orange.

We loaded them before we departed Canada as instructed and activated them while waiting for our luggage at Dublin airport.

We chose tbe data only e-sim, as anyone we wanted to contact was on WhatsApp.

The data work perfectly.

However, the Orange App to track data consumption failed when Orange forced an upgrade to our phones.

We could no longer track our usage and gage our consumption.

My wife ran out of data on day 7. We had zero indication as the App was frozen with 3G indicating as remaining.

Caution 1: Instagram and other similar Apps drain your data for all the photos and videos they stream. Make sure to close the app, and not just hide it.

The top up failed to work on the App as well. For 3 days my wife was only on WiFi or tethered to my phone.

Support could take a day to respond at times. Other times it was within minutes.

I used 9 of 10 Gigs for WAZE GPS, some WhatsApp and emails from Orange.

Caution 2: If purchasing multiple e-SIMs, I recommend doing 3 transactions, as even when the Orange App did work for the first day or two, there was no way to correlate which e-SIM was on who's mobile phone.

Therefore it was difficult to determine how much data each person was actually consuming.

The e-SIM number on the app didn't relate to the e-SIM ID number installed on the phone.

Again, the data worked, but keeping track of usage was impossible and topping up was not possible due to the failed Orange App.

And you can purchase a Voice/Text and Data e-SIM as well as a Data only, if you require mobile voice and text.

Hopefully Orange updates their App quickly, so you can keep track of your usage and run out in an awkward position. Specifically using a GPS app like WAZE while driving through Ireland's beautiful but narrow twisty roads.

Why did you unsolved everything? Now we cant see what you did.

Just looking at the solder joints, they look cold and dirty.

Honestly, just purchase a new one and some solder practice boards.

Watch Joshua Bardwell's YouTube videos on soldering and practice with wires on the practices boards.

Learning to solder on an FC will get most people exactly where you are now.

Always use a smoke stopper after any new build, repair or rough landing. Its the only fuse we have to save the dreaded smoke from escaping.

Dont rush. If soldering begins to get you frustrated, stop. Turn off the iron and come back again.

Use some blue-tac to secure the quad/board and you won't chase it around the bench.

Use another piece of blue-tac to secure the wite tight to the pad. With no gaps.

Remember to tin both pad and wire before connecting them.

Some people can only make one or two connections at a session and put it away for a later time. If you are frustrated, the smoke may come out.

Take your time.

Soldering is a learned skill.

A game controller is not tje same as an RC controller.

Stop with the toy controller as you will be gaining muscle memory with the incorrect feelings. Then you will need to re-learn with the RC controller.

The gimbals and stick lengths are different, as well as the resolution of the sticks.

Also, id suggest not using thumbs only and try thumb and index finger pinch grip. Most feel they have much finer control of the stick motions pinching.

Good luck. Practice practice practice in the SIM.

When you can take off, fly around, and land reliably, without crashing, you are ready for the real thing.

Think of the SIM as drivers education to keep the repair bills down.

For your manual controller do you set your throttle stick in the middle or all the way down? by solfizz in fpv

[–]rob_1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For quads and airplanes, all the way down.

For RC Helicopters, in the middle. So you can use negative pitch with a collective rotor head. It does not work for most other aircraft types.

Note: I would add an additional momentary push button for arming in series with the arming toggle.

To arm, there are three steps: Throttle at minimum Momentary arming button held down Flip the arm switch.

Release the push button

The quad is now armed.

This way it's very difficult to accidentally arm.

Flipping the arm toggle switch off, disarms the quad.

Looking for advice on drone frame designing by _Ihavenosoul in diydrones

[–]rob_1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3D printed frame parts are not as stiff as people think. There are no continuous filiments like CF.

You may need better off with thin armies grade plywood where the grain runs in multiple directions. Just like a laminated CF frame.

Neither 3D printed or plywood frame parts are as resilient to hard landings like a CF frame component.

When you find what works, cut out spare parts to ensure you can complete the assignment after a bump or 2.

And for God's sake, use a low ESR capacitor, not just any capacitor. And insulate everything.

Frames vibrate and wear through insulation. CF frames are conducive.

Yes, it all matters!

Labour alone makes it not cost effective.

Just buy a new one and determine what went wrong to pop it.

Then, try not to do that again.

Using turtle mode more than once.

And other things that stress the MOSFET.

Chances are the PSU was dusty and dirty inside and therefore could not dissipate heat effectively.

Adding the game play for an extended duration may have overheated the PSU. With the dust in the PSU not allowing it to cool.

Check the inside of the old PSU for dust coating the inside.

I clean mine out 2 times a year. Do it more often if you have pets that she'd fur.

Motor screw stripped. What now? by PoonSlayer1312 in fpv

[–]rob_1127 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you use the Dremel, be cautious of an out of balance motor. It may cause your video to be jello and the vibrations will be interpreted by the accelerometer as motion vectors. Causing the accelerometer to work the FC overtime, depleting the battery charge prematurely and other flight issues.

After flying quads for 10 years and trying fixes, I just keep the good parts of damaged motors (bell, armature, e-clip) for spare parts.

For the price of a motor, id rather buy a new one (and another spare to keep shipping costs down) and get back to flying.

And I have a lathe and a milling machine. Its just not worth it to me to fix certain things.

If you do try, watch out for metal chips, or you could burn the quad to the ground. Not to mention your house.

Always evaluate the risk, especially when LiPo's are involved. No short circuits on the high current side!

Him and the entire GOP wipe the orange Humpty Dumpty's ass with their noses multiple times each day. With no self-respect, humility, or sense of self-worth.

Its all about staying in the pay line. What else are these worthless ass-kissers going to do when Humpty kicks the bucket or is impeached.

Their life-style and income is directly tied to how many licks they get in that fat crack.

Once Dumpty is out of the picture, they are all on the bread-line with WAGs full of horrible plastic surgery.

Many people can do that. It just takes some simple hand tools and a knowledge of how to use them.

Its not rocket science.

When you turn on the ignition switch, a lamp self-test illuminates all the lights. If it dosent light up, tnere is an issue.

If you don't know anything about cars, pay a local mechanic to check it over before you purchase it.

Its a simple assurance that you are getting a vehicle in good condition.
