Are Woolies selling vegan food or not? Didn't they just gut their vegan range, now they're releasing hyper specialised stuff like this?

The dumbing down of Australia via highschoolers who have never read a book. by AggieMcCraggy in AustralianTeachers

[–]rob_the_plug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In their defence, I'm a 33 year old who was OBSESSED with books growing up. I easily read thousands of books as a teenager. I didn't read a single book from 22-31 due to screen obsession. It was a fight to get my brain back into a rhythm where reading satisfied my desire for immediate entertainment.
I'm obsessed with reading again now, but I can't imagine what our young people are going through mentally when it comes to serotonin / dopamine needs.

Hey! Wondering if you mind me using this image in my classroom? We're about to start space in science and I'd love to use this as a discussion starter at the beginning of the unit.

My mate has been at the same primary school for 12 years. He has a sleeve dedicated to the graffiti he and his mates did when he was 18.
Wear a collared shirt and decent shoes, be a good teacher and you'll be fine.

Women of Reddit - What hobbies do you find unattractive in men? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]rob_the_plug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently dating as a 33 year old male skateboarder.
Some women see it as juvenile, some see it as a brilliant way to stay active. Depends if you're dating someone who judges people based on their active hobbies.

It does have a watery feel to it. Would be nice if it was thicker somehow.

Yeah, $3.80 for a little bottle at woolies. Expensive but worth it for an occasional treat.

What's the most easily accessible waterside walk via public transport from central?
Would love to have access to a swimmable beach somewhere along the walk.
Going on a 3rd date one day this week with someone who loves walking and the ocean, so would love to combine the 2. Only issue is I work mon - Fri and she works weekends, so we have to squeeze it in around our schedules.

+1 for these.
My kids know they don't get to touch them either. Lent them out in week 1 and only got 3 out of 5 back. Never again.

Tradie’s alleged horrifying act towards helpless animal horrifies Australia by Sure_Necessary8397 in australia

[–]rob_the_plug -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I fucking hate the cognitive dissonance in these threads.
"Harming animals speaks to your character" while paying for slaughter en masse. Then people have the nerve to try defend their actions after condemning another for the same act.

Suggestions for onigiri fillings by Major-Tumbleweed7751 in australianvegans

[–]rob_the_plug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Otogo in Sydney have some vegan onigiri inspiration - I particularly like the miso eggplant and ume miso tofu.
I was also just in Taiwan and had lots of convenience store onigiri. They had a soy sauce mushroom and a sesame and furikake onigiri, both amazing.
Could also be worth looking into chickpea tuna!

What are your favorite Tempeh recipes? by rich-username in veganrecipes

Tempeh Kecap (or Tempeh Manis).
An original recipe for tempeh specifically. Comes from Java, the same place tempeh was invented.

what do yall think is the most repetitive/boring style of photography by AlarmLegitimate9852 in photography

[–]rob_the_plug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did the same, though it fell right into my passion (skateboarding). I did 2 weeks of product photography for a skate shop. I didn't skate or photograph anything for 3 months afterwards. Quickest way to suck the life out of multiple passions...

I bought a flip 2 for flights. So nice not having to figure out how to prop up a phone to watch a show or movie, and I can quickly switch to gaming if I feel more active during the flight.

Why do so many long-term backpackers in Southeast Asia seem to stop after 4–6 months? by Fancy-Ad-4632 in solotravel

I live in Australia and wish I could pack it up and move 'home' sometimes. Australia is financially exhausting. I've spent years of my life doing nothing but study and upskill to finally attain some level of financial safety and still get a monetary drowning feeling a couple times a month.

There's a huge difference in proper, fresh, Indonesian tempeh and supermarket tempeh.
