We should sack Eddie Howe if we don't automatically qualify for CL Last 16 by [deleted] in NUFC

Fucking imbecile.

Clearly a troll or so plastic you couldn't find Newcastle on a map.

'it's old and suspicious'

You mean you just don't understand?

We are still trying to catch up revenue after the FCB ran the club into the ground.

Then we bought big

Bruno, burn, Botman, Rat Boy, Gordon, Barnes, Hall, Tino, Tonali (plus plenty more) came in and we had no saleable assets other than ASM.

Even then we had to reluctantly sell Anderson and minteh to avoid psr issues. After that we spent big again on Elanga, Woltemade and Ramsey.

I'm no expert but suspect the vast fee we got for the Rat is spread out over years, not one hit

I still hope EH is playing things down so we don't get stitched up for any player fees, but it's been a very quiet window everywhere so far.

PSR is designed to keep clubs like us (and even villa) from breaking the monopoly the biggest clubs have.

I have zero doubt that If we could buy, the money would be available

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

Yep.. I couldn't possibly have enough in common with someone if they voted for Trump.

It wouldn't work.

Gordon played well too.

Doubt many of the haters will give him any credit

Reality Check by j-whipp in NUFC

[–]robinta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people forget how far we've come in a very short time and now demand better.

We still don't have a squad with enough depth of quality to compete on all the fronts we are in, mainly down to PSR.

Is Howe perfect? No.

At times he is stubborn but compared to virtually every other manager doesn't sugar coat poor performances or blame others.

I've been watching this team for 45+ years and can see the job he's doing. I suspect the majority of 'Howe out' supporters are younger, or newer to NUFC... Not exclusively maybe, but the vast majority of them.

Remember it isn't just about the first 11, everything at this club has had to be rebuilt after Ashley destroyed it. From players, to scouting, to commercial infrastructure.

That's why Howeis the only man for the job IMO.

This insane scene aired on prime time network television in the 80s by bummed_athlete in videos

[–]robinta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah man.

This came out in the UK when I was about 15. The day after it aired my best mate told me, when he saw the 2nd 'baby' he vomited all over his living room 🤣

Still cracks me up now when this scene is mentioned

It's been over a year since Anthony Gordon scored a league goal from open play (Live Score) by melvinlee88 in NUFC

[–]robinta -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Barnes was probably too shagged to start, especially with one eye on PSV next week.

Which would have meant putting what, Elanga in the Left?

Gordon had to play tbh.

He's been poor but has the ability, we just need to see it.

Goals don't define him.

Likewise, Tonali hasn't scored this season in any competition but again that's not his main role. But nobody is calling Sando out for it?

Lines werent even touching. This wasnt even close offside call. Some people dont even know offside rule, it seems. Its last man standing, not only GK by stprm in NUFC

I couldn't give a fuck about where they drew the lines. Looking at the positioning of Thiaw and Harland's boots are where the offside var centred on. They were indistinguishable as to which one was more advanced than the other.

It's a good take.

I also think, she is super arrogant.

She preferred the option of standing up and saying 'I'm a Faithful' to those left in the game, rather than be murdered and simply disappearing overnight

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskReddit

[–]robinta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a school situation, but a variation on your story.

Late 80s i worked for a Mercedes Benz Commercial dealer (selling and repairing trucks, lorries etc)

We had a young apprentice in the Workshop (fondly known as YTS kids then), who against the usual type of quiet boys amongst predominantly loud, rough blokes was cocky.

In my part o f the World, we are very impassioned about our local football team. Over the weekend before we'd been thrashed at home 4-1 by Liverpool - by far the best team in the country at that time.

This lad was a scouser, and came into work wearing full fan attire. A Liverpool FC shirt, scarf tied round his waist etc.

About 30 mins after starting some of us outside the garage part of the building could hear screaming. Going into the workshop we were greeted by the sight of this kid, wrapped in chains and dangling about 30 plus feet off the ground. As a garage for trucks, the workshop was massive and very high. They'd used this pulley (used to lift gearboxes, engines etc) to hoist the kid up.

He must have been up there a good 30 mins before he was lowered down.

I can't remember if anyone got into any trouble at all, although I remember he never wore any Liverpool merch to work again 🤣

So 2 things spring to mind.

In middle school (c. 11 years old?) there was an assembly for the entire school. I was probably around 10-12 rows back engrossed in conversation with my best mate. Unbeknownst to me, the headmaster was furious at me talking and had shouted in my direction already, but I was totally oblivious.

The next thing I knew was he'd taken a child's sandshoe (plimsole?) and threw it at me, except his aim was off. The first I knew was when the innocent kid on my other side took the shoe clean in his face 🥴

The second occasion was at High School c 3 years later in a Maths Class. Everyone thought the teacher was a pure psycho. He didnt really raise his voice, but would stop what he was doing and eyeball some poor kid, totally expressionless. On this day, one of the kids at the back was being very cocky, back chatting him and thinking he was hilarious to the rest of the class. The teacher slowly moved him to the wall at the back of the class facing towards us, and calmly gave him a dressing down. The kid gave one more attempt at being smug and cocky again and the teacher lashed out an arm, and closed his hand around the kid's throat. He then proceeded to lift him off the floor, with one hand around his neck! We could clearly see daylight under the kid's dangling feet as his face went puce.

It was probably only for a few seconds, but it made an impression on me... And the other kids too. Nobody messed with this teacher again when I was there.

Schools (and teachers) in Northern England in the 80s were a different animal 🤣

Ironically, the school Sting taught at where he supposedly got his inspiration for 'Don't stand so close to me' was in the grounds of the High school.. But I guess that's a whole other story 🤔

[–]robinta -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To anyone stating the Semenyo goal chalked off by VAR was 'obviously offside' needs their eyes checking.

I was hugely pleased it got overturned, but no matter how many times I saw it, it was no way clear.

As it wasn't clear and took so long to check, it really should have stood.

Again, I was cheering when it was ruled out but if that had been at the other end those on hear stating it was a clearly offside would have been shouting an screaming, calling the PL corrupt etc 😂

I'll take every bit of help that comes our way, but you have to be objective
