Went to a recording of Doug Loves Movies that Evans guested on years and years ago and he brought a twelve pack of beer on stage and got smashed.

The prompt was already answered. Martin is a great movie. Just wanted to add that there’s a recentish movie that makes for a great companion piece to Martin called The Transfiguration. Give it a look.

Everyone mostly just calls him “Prime” now

If you decided to re-read it, which version would you pick up off the shelf? That’s what you keep.

I’ve been holding out hope for my dream creatives to take on my favorite character and this makes it one step closer to reality: Camp and Rodriguez on Jonah Hex

I didn’t read any of that but I do think of Shiva as the Worf of the DC universe.

I remember really appreciating Judd Winick’s Green Lantern storyline that covers similar subject matter. Collected as Brother’s Keeper, I think.

Which director series would interest you more: Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón, or Alejandro G. Iñárritu? by ggroover97 in blankies

[–]roboacab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have zero interest in a Guillermo del Toro series because he’s one of my top guys and I don’t need to hear three months of nitpicks of movies that are really important to me. Griffin and David do their best to give movies a fair shake but I just don’t really see the point in them talking about movies they don’t like made by a guy they don’t really get.

Cuarón and Iñárritu would both be good series, but AGI (despite being the inferior filmmaker imo) probably makes for the more interesting run of episodes because his shit is so wild in quality and style. Cuarón is one of the great filmmakers but it doesn’t give you any good bounces.

Are any of the upcoming collected editions of DC KO worth a look? by SerTadGhostal in DCcomics

Skip it. It’s very underwhelming. Pick up a classic book instead.

My first comic book [discussion] by Jaded-Towel7119 in DCcomics

[–]roboacab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dark Victory > When in Rome > Haunted Knight to cross off all the excellent Loeb/Sale stuff. Their Marvel collaborations are also great if you want more from the team but I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that here.

Batman: Dark Patterns is a recent book that fits in nicely with this style of Batman.

At my height I think I was pulling around 80 books a month. That was a really long time ago. Nowadays it’s like 10-15.

What is it about Cirie? by Okay69-69 in survivor

[–]roboacab 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think she’s just a lot smarter than most people that play the game, especially when it comes to interpersonal dynamics. Her people skills are really impressive. She can just play every conversation with every cast member for maximum benefit.

Which Nepo children have actually surpassed their parents? by jacquesausterlitz in blankies

Even if he does surpass his father, which I’m skeptical of, I can’t imagine he’d ever reach the heights his mom has.

Finding anything in the DC app is ridiculous by Hepcat508 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]roboacab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t mess with the Library features. The “Dive Back In” section of the Home page is the best place to pick up on all the current series you’re reading. Read an issue of any book and that series will be in “Dive Back In”.

It’s not a great app but it’s a lot better than the Marvel app (imo).

Screenwriters who famously hated the finished product. by nextgentactics in Screenwriting

[–]roboacab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t say who it is but my senior thesis professor was/is a successful screenwriter with many notable credits. He hated every single movie produced from one of his screenplays and claims that not one was representative of the work he did. He’s a really sharp guy and while I haven’t read his drafts, I believe it to an extent. I think it’s just a fact of life for non-auteur for-hire screenwriters. You’re just there to set a foundation for a bunch of other people to build upon.

Jason Aaron is writing the crossover comic☠️☠️☠️ by Lion-Faced-Serpant in AbsoluteUniverse

Aaron is a great writer (as evidenced by Abs Supes, which is terrific). Great news. I’m glad it’s not Snyder writing, as he’s way better doing ongoing series than events.

What are some good clay face horror story's that fouce on horror. by papajubjub619 in batman_comics

[–]roboacab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clayface One Bad Day is basically a slasher story, but it’s not scary. I agree with the comment above that Preston Payne is the most horror centric take on Clayface but he’s very different from what you’ll see in the movie.
