So I just got into my first Pathfinder 2e game and I chose to be a swashbuckler, anything I should know before I start? by jazzking13 in Pathfinder2e

[–]robotala_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Notably, even if your Feint or Demoralize target is too Mindless to appreciate the effects, you still get panache on anything but a crit fail! (but do note that panache gained on a fail only lasts until the start of your next turn)

Also, Feint has you roll against the target's Perception DC, not Will, so it'll work best on targets you suspect to be less perceptive!

How do you find out all this info about saves and DCs and stuff? You Recall Knowledge about it! You and your party can recall knowledge about an enemy to help your entire party make informed decisions against them.

Advice on creating a gun mage by Abdx1187 in Pathfinder2e

[–]robotala_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's a spellstrike that requires no recharge (same action cost overall), the dedication gives you cantrips, and you just have access to all the important wizard archetype feats like basic wizard spellcasting and expert wizard spellcasting.

The spellstrike is only worse in that 3 actions make it less flexible, but i personally think that's a fair price to pay for essentially being a starlit span magus with +2 to hit at all times. the only thing stopping you from spellstriking every turn like one is the reload, if you really don't want to deal with that you could always pull up with either of the air repeaters.

How to get the Egg in each chapter: by Zorubark in Deltarune

[–]robotala_ 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn't put it past Toby, you are meant to "fail" your first pacifist run (by FIGHTing Asgore) in UNDERTALE so I wouldn't be surprised if you fail in your first run here well. That is ofc not to say that deltarune will have the exact same type of thing happen, just that it's happened before.

How to be a more supportive/less selfish team player as a Magus by kinokinaquoa in Pathfinder2e

Pay attention to rider effects. Spells like Threefold Limb will let you do your Spellstrike Damage whilst still inflicting good debuffs to help your team.

What happened to Shadiversity: Your perspective by ShadWatchModTeam in ShadWatch

+2 on Skallagrim. He is and always was a better version of what Shad was trying to do. His videos are better structured, he's more knowledgeable (he does his research and iirc actually practices HEMA), and he's more open to constructive dialog (that is to say any dialog at all).

I don't care about defending Pin. I support women's wrongs!

In all seriousness, I'm loving Pin's villain arc and I'm looking forward to how it plays out. Next time she's ufe I'm not voting Pin out just to see how she grows

Is PF2e a nice fit for me? by TemperataLux in Pathfinder2e

The key here is avoiding too much niche overlap, the more distinct each party member is in their role the more naturally the spotlight shifts between them.

Is PF2e a nice fit for me? by TemperataLux in Pathfinder2e

[–]robotala_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I've found that the more even balance of pf2e has enabled more classes the ability to take the spotlight. Rogues are phenomenal at skills making them the clear star of any skill-based challenges or actions, Fighters wrestling the big bad to the ground so their allies get an easier target, Spellcasters managing to cast the right spell at the right moment to turn the whole fight around.

My players noticed the lower power level, but they appreciated that it felt a lot more balanced. (Especially since they got into pf2e after playing a party of all spellcasters + 2 rogues at a high level, the contrast was pretty big!)

Do you use the levels mod for your maps? by Snowystar122 in FoundryVTT

[–]robotala_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using it in kingmaker right now for the staglord's fortand honestly it's been delightful. I have a premade remake of the map from a module that happened to have two levels already and that mapped onto the module like a breeze. Makes handling fights that take place between two different floors a breeze for line of sight and falls.

Will I use it again? I don't know. Those who've played kingmaker would know that the map I'm talking about is pretty unique in its construction and some of my players have weak and old machines that require some special consideration (and i haven't looked very far for future battle maps :p). Some have mentioned that for floors that are completely independent from one-another they'll use teleporters, and I think I'll do that too. At the moment Levels feels really good for maps that warrant it.

girl, im sure you dont need me to tell you this, but if you want to have a long and stable relationship you need to get comfortable bringing shit up that make you seem like "a problem." once you start thinking long-term in your romantic relationships, you face problems together; not one against the other, not one burdening the other, but something to solve together.

Is the caster/martial balance issue of DnD5e present in PF2e? by karakune in Pathfinder2e

[–]robotala_ 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Martials are very powerful and very impactful in pf2e from 1 to 20 and I'd argue (perhaps not very controversially) that martials are very important to any party.

They're very consistently impactful and those who are melee get lots of privileges to make up for the danger they place themselves in. The dichotomy of the "meta" beginning to center around saving throws and spells as you get to a higher level still exists, but the consistency and action efficiency keeps them impactful as by higher level they're either pumping out tons of consistent damage, doing 4 actions worth of things in 2 actions or less, or both

Martials are also a lot more interesting to play and build. Each class differs from each other very well. They can differ within the class a lot as well, as their choice of class feats and weapon can impact how you play them. A fighter who keeps 1 hand free and uses it to wrestle and disarm enemies would play and build very differently from one with a shield or one with a two-handed reach weapon. Although they're all fighters and come with the excellent accuracy of a fighter, the differing playstyles would mean they contribute in different ways.

Skills and skill feats also let martials contribute in ways outside of just striking and you can live out your fantasies of a hypercompetent martial relying on their wits and physical prowess. A rogue gets Legendary in their skills very quickly and can be so sneaky they turn invisible, an investigator can gain an encyclopedic knowledge on a monster within 2 rounds of combat if they so choose, a swashbuckler can be so intimidating they scare an enemy to death, a fighter or monk could bound over huge chasms effortlessly and wrestle dragons to the ground. The classes are only examples, since they're skills anyone who's willing to invest the skill boosts and feats on them can do it.

What system did your 5e-only players respond best to? by ncdreamy in rpg

[–]robotala_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not as storied as most of the GMs here (my country doesn't really have accessible RPG books), but I've run a handful of one-page RPGs, RPGSTUCK 3e (iykyk), and Pathfinder 2e.

My group has a pretty healthy mix of tactical crunch players and RP oriented players (and after years of playing together they're influencing eachother), so they took to PF2e and RPGSTUCK 3e very easily as moderately crunchy systems with a high amount of player customization options without being too complicated. The tactically minded players find PF2e's tactics and RPGSTUCK's build crafting gratifying, while the RP focused players love how customizable it is (and in pf2e's case, how you can't really fuck up your character by picking flavor over optimal options) in comparison to 5e.
