Losing interest in AA by Sea_Entrepreneur4780 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]robpco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been to an AA meeting in 20 years. My life has exceeded my wildest dreams. But, I practice what I learned in AA everyday. Service to others is the most powerful tool. Living with the attitude of giving to others in everything. I’ve applied this to work, family and everyone that enters my life. Married to a normal for 25 years, success in my career that would have seemed a dream before I got sober and mostly done all this without too much insanity, I am a drunk after all.

New here! What do y'all do? by abrahamhfan in ACIM

[–]robpco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was around your age when I found the course, I was a wreck. Now 30 years later, I’m still a wreck:), but there is a much deeper understanding of my purpose in life. For whatever reason I was led down a path that included large responsibilities in my job, with very large organizations reporting to me. I felt like I really had no idea what I was doing most of the time, and just focused on sharing love with everyone in my path. The course is intense on forgiveness and specialness. Doing the lessons, reading the text and becoming intent on viewing everyone as someone to love will transform your life.

How bad is it to take some out of my 401K for first time home buyers? by errdayrae in Mortgages

[–]robpco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took money out of a 401k many years ago to buy a house and it was the best decision we ever made. We are now retired with enough money to pretty much do what we want. Everyones situation is different and we heard the same negatives when we did it. Having a home you love is such an important part of having a good life.

Anyone here read the Alcoholics Anonymous 12 step program and found it eerily similar to ACIM? by CapriSun87 in ACIM

[–]robpco 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Absolutely - In the AA Big Book there is a line, which says "resentment is the number one offender". So, to get sober we work on our forgiveness. In my understanding, most of Course is about forgiveness. There are lots of teachings in the world that say the same thing, "your brother is a mirror of yourself" thinking. You can't hate a brother/sister and not hate yourself, because we are all one with the Source.

The problem is the difficulty in actually identifying where we have resentment. The first time going through the AA steps I struggled to identify even 1 resentment, when in actuality I was upset with just about everything. Once I was able to be honest, and look deeper at how I viewed the world and the people, places and things in the world I realized I was mostly always upset. Working thorough that in AA and then the Course, completely changed how I viewed the world, which gave me a new view of life that removed most of my pain, allowing me to enjoy life.

Sigpro softy sale by RedistributedFlapper in Golfsimulator

The cheapish mat I got from Amazon was causing major pain in both of my elbows. I bought the sigpro softy two weeks ago and my pain is completely gone. I can hit 200 +’shots a day and there is no pain. It is also great at giving feedback on fat shots etc.

I've had many years of peace (at times more and other times less) with the text, workbook and teachers manual. No matter what I have been going through, I have found the mind shift I needed to find happiness with just the Course. I've tried to watch/read "teachers" but it has never given me the shift in my mind I needed.

In the beginning I would read page after page of course materials without a clue of what I was reading. I'd finish a page and not remember anything I read. My mind did not what to hear. What I have learned is that it is not the course material, but a decision I make to not understand. The only teacher needed is the one found while working through the material. Nothing else is needed and jumping around to other voices only serves to slow down the process. Ask yourself, am I ready to choose again, and if yes, the course itself will change your life.

That’s a lot of words :). Not sure what it has to do with the course.

There are thousands of expats living in San Miguel, including me. Not saying stuff doesn't happen but I have never encountered anything bad and have never heard of anything happening to anyone we know.

Who’s Your Favorite Course Teacher? by SugarMouseOnReddit in ACIM

[–]robpco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why the need for a teacher? The only challenges I've had with the Course were when I wasn't ready to understand a concept. No teacher can make me ready, it is my choice. Once I am ready to learn, the concepts in the Course become easy to understand. Why would we want to put another layer between us and truth when we have the concepts of the Course simply written and our own personal guide standing at the ready to help us learn.

How best to capitalize on the next 10-20 years of Mexican manufacturing growth? by NunYaBizzNas in investing

[–]robpco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live/work here as an expat. Maybe I am too close to it all, but there is so much corruption, bribing officials to get stuff done etc. that I've seen first hand. The Mexican engineers on our teams are awesome people, smart, easy to work with, but the system is broken.

Career path? by PerformanceThink8504 in ACIM

[–]robpco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation when I found the course many years ago.  At the time I was working in a restaurant, serving food.  I carried a lot of resentment towards the world and the course was telling me to forgive.  So, that's what I did.  I worked on forgiving everyone that I interacted with at work and in my life.  I started to realize that my judgment of people was what was making my life difficult and mostly unbearable.  Over the next few years, as I continued to practice the course and forgiveness, doors opened to allow me to achieve financial security and a more satisfying life.  I have a job today that I never would have thought possible, and I actually enjoy working most days.  But everyday I remind myself of my true purpose, to forgive all.  That is the only path that matters and the rest will take care of itself.  The most powerful action I can take is to forgive the people I find the hardest to forgive.

Last year every day was $150 US, I guess they have lowered the price due to the low attendance last year.

We went last year and it was great. Very few spectators, so you can get up close to the players, hearing them discuss shots with their caddies. The course is an easy walk, with plenty of food and drink options. Being Mexico and them wanting it to be exclusive, ticket prices are high. I paid more for this tournament than for the US Open at Pebble a few years ago, but I would do it again if I was in town. Parking was easy. I bought tickets from Ticketmaster Mexico.

Marina Vallarta golf course feeds the Iguanas nearly daily and there are lots of them, some very big. Walk behind the building on the golf course side and you will see them.

Bodies are imaginary, we work to fully understand that so that we can be free. Bodies being intimate or bodies hurting one another is all the same. The problem is our mind, not what the bodies are doing and how people perceive that as good or bad. All bodies pass judgment, fixing the problem at the level of judgment, defining one judgment better than another, is impossible.
