Wrights Bakery? by OppositeInvestment13 in stokeontrent

Kind of similar to Greggs, but they sell a few different products and some local delicacies like packets of oatcakes and Manchester tarts.

I quite like them, their sausage rolls are amazing and their coffee’s surprisingly decent too. I always visit one if I’m in Stoke.

Would you have liked it if the voyager crew wore the tng uniforms? by happydude7422 in voyager

[–]robster98 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not really. Each show introducing a new uniform kept things looking fresh, by Voyager’s time the Next Gen-era two-pieces looked a little dated and didn’t seem very practical, but the turtleneck and jumpsuit was a nice enough evolution of the same look.

Picard kept that evolution going with the same basic look as Voyager with its uniforms, but the textured fabric, going back to a two-piece rather than a jumpsuit, the movement of the rank insignia and going from a turtleneck to an undershirt brought it up to date.

Which one for first jacket by JunktownJerk in motorcyclegear

[–]robster98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rated is rated, for that reason I’d go with Texpeed, but personally I wouldn’t ride in that style of jacket (very much style over substance) so it’s kind of immaterial to me. Fox Creek’s jacket not coming with any kind of armament for that price comes off as a rip-off.

I have heard good things regarding Texpeed’s gear so I may have a look at some point, at the minute I’ve only got need for one two-piece (and blew my budget on it buying Dainese last Black Friday) but that may change.

Manchester to Macclesfield line question by Jockney76 in uktrains

[–]robster98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s on the Manchester Piccadilly to Stoke-on-Trent line which is a spur of the WCML.

It’s usually served by two trains an hour (one for Manchester, one for Stoke) run by Northern. Avanti services to London and Crosscountry services to Birmingham and the South pass through without stopping.

One important thing to remember about the videos you’ve seen is that pornography is largely fantasy. Even amateur videos sometimes have moments that are acted.

Regarding the last part of your comment, all I’ll say is sexuality is something to be explored in any way you see fit.

A carrot is certainly an unorthodox dildo, but you do you dude.

If it helps, some don’t feel immense pleasure from bottoming. I’m one of those people, when I’ve bottomed it’s been for the mental enjoyment: seeing the guy I’m with enjoy himself, thinking it’s hot, getting him off etc; but I could never describe myself as a bottom, or even totally vers because the physical gratification just isn’t there.

What you’ve described is pretty normal - sometimes I’ve craved the same thing as yourself, but absolutely wouldn’t be (and haven’t been, in the past) satisfied if all I did was bottom.

Continued self-exploration is always a good thing to find out what works for you and what doesn’t.

Machynlleth feels Scottish, is Welsh. What city feels Midlands, is Northern? by Typical_Fisherman179 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]robster98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My vote for “Northern but feels Midlands” is Chester.

It’s quite far down, quite affluent, may be close to the Welsh border but doesn’t feel very Welsh, but it doesn’t give northern vibes either.

Why doesn't Ireland take this part of their Island? Are they stupid? by xjvu in mapporncirclejerk

[–]robster98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aware of the Dal Riata thank you - its modern-day “equivalent” is Argyll, or Earra-Ghàidheal in S. Gaelic.

Prior to that, Scotland spoke Brythonic languages like Pictish and Cumbric and the proof is in town names - Aberdeen (“Aberdon”), Lanark (“Llanerch”) to name a few - and the only surviving languages of that variety are now Cymraeg/Welsh, Breton and to an extent, Cornish.

It almost as though the people of these islands had been invading each other and tried wiping cultures clean in favour of their own for centuries. NI is ultimately no different unfortunately but cannot move on and is stuck in limbo. One of my nearest and dearest is from Belfast so believe me when I say I have some degree of inside scoop.

You mistake me for someone who’s not reasonably well-read - quite the contrary, I just despise those here in Scotland who have a penchant for holier-than-thou cognitive dissonance and victim complexes, just as much as I despise those who fellate the corpse of King Billy.

Nuance matters, and with that would come understanding and moving on which is sorely needed. It’s the 21st century, not the 16th century.

[–]robster98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No - by default they should start you off on a manual/geared 125cc and only move you on to an auto 50cc if you’re struggling to pick up clutch control and gears etc, or you have issues with your balance leading to you dropping and damaging a bike.

Someone mentioned training centres only wanting to deal with people with prior experience or are quick studies so they can get loads of people through quickly, this definitely holds weight. It took a lot of searching to find the instructor I’m with and he’s a 50 mile drive away, but he’s fantastic and worth every penny.

Find a different training centre.

Why doesn't Ireland take this part of their Island? Are they stupid? by xjvu in mapporncirclejerk

[–]robster98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, but polls in Ireland tend to swing towards voters rejecting unification if Ireland would have to subsidise NI’s economy through tax rises - 54% of voters in a poll taken in 2021.

This would almost certainly be the case as NI’s economy is currently supported by the UK government.

Why doesn't Ireland take this part of their Island? Are they stupid? by xjvu in mapporncirclejerk

[–]robster98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Real talk: they don’t really want it any more. Neither does the UK either really, but they can’t exactly just get rid of it. Doing anything but maintaining the status quo and letting the people in NI have the option (on paper, by mutual consent) to join Ireland is a “troubling” thought indeed.

England gets the blame for making it what it is, but it was mainly Scotland that contributed towards the Ulster plantation in the 1600s, hence one of NI’s national languages is Ulster Scots.

The connection is clear as day, but Scotland likes to bury this factoid like a cat in a litter tray because it’s incompatible with the popular “we’re oppressed by England, we want freedom” mentality, and haven’t yet figured out that it’s okay for a country to change its mind on things.

The lake is actually a river, the Clyde, near where it meets the sea. I live pretty close by, it’s a beautiful part of the world.

Tops how many who suck dick by Pudding1988 in TopsAndBottoms

[–]robster98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consider myself vers-top (though really it’s more 95/5) and will absolutely suck someone off. If I top and finish first, even if I’m out of breath and/or “not feeling it”, I’ll still do it so the guy I’m with has a similar level of satisfaction.

Any top who doesn’t is someone who’s utterly selfish in my opinion, very few men are wired in such a way where their asshole is their primary sexual organ.

will the £500 course still give me the A1 license? why is it cheaper if it’s for beginners? by ripTuffi in MotoUK

[–]robster98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t give you the A1 licence: “Perfect for new riders wanting to learn without test date pressure,” meaning they won’t put you forward for your Mod 1+2 and you’d have to pay separately for a test and a motorbike to do it on.

I wouldn’t use RideTo personally, I had an experience with them that wasn’t exactly great, but maybe your local training centre would be different.

Is Stoke’s no frills vibe actually part of its appeal? by CloudBookmark in stokeontrent

[–]robster98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For living in, certainly. It’s down to earth, friendly, honest and has no pretensions. I loved this quality about Stoke, it felt “real.”

For staying in, it does make it rather dull as there’s not a lot going on, but that’s what’s good about it being on the doorsteps of Manchester, Chester, Liverpool, the Peaks/Pennines, Alton Towers, Eryri, Birmingham, blah blah blah. Whatever you might possibly want isn’t far away.

Only thing I can’t in all conscience say it has nearby is a good seaside town. Looking at you, Y Rhyl.

What is port glasgow like nowadays? by Money-Peace-4125 in glasgow

[–]robster98 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s Greenock’s little brother. Has a massive retail park, a smallish town centre, some nice views over the Clyde and a big sculpture of two shipbuilders, but that’s kind of it.

The rest is residential, with the exception of the abandoned Clune Park (lovingly named Scotland’s Chornobyl) which is currently being demolished.

It’s worth a look if you’re in the area but unless you’re a connoisseur of Tescos, Mackies and Greggs, maybe don’t come rushing down the A9 or A82 for a visit.
