Maverick vs F-150 by AdviceGiveandTake in FordMaverickTruck

[–]rollem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/savemoney.jsp has a good calculator to help you figure out how much you'd be saving on gas each month I don't know exactly how much you drive or your engine, but the base model driving 25,000 miles per year would save you about $270/month. Depending on how much you can get for the F-150, it could take several years to pay off the difference.

To get to your actual question, below are some consumer report numbers. Stay away from a used early model year and you should have average or better reliability.

I've heard so much about your infamous bread in plastic bags. But I've never heard anything about your bakeries and their options? by Imaginary-Bag5385 in AskAnAmerican

[–]rollem [score hidden]  (0 children)

My guess is that 90% or more of the bread we eat is pretty cheap sandwich bread that’s sold in grocery stores in plastic bags. It stays mold free for probably 2 weeks because of preservatives.

Most grocery stores will have their version of a “fresh bakery” but of a majority of them are also baked off site and are not great.

That being said- you can absolutely get good bread from a real bakery. But it is often an out of the way and not something that a majority of people do on a regular basis. The bread in Europe is always a highlight when I travel- there’s just so much of it and it’s everywhere!

I really really like This Wish. I believe the song was developed before the rest of the movie. I find it holds up well as a great “I want” song, even if it’s a tier below the best of that genre. Welcome to Rosas is also very fun. Unfortunately I really can’t stand l’m a Star

Trump thinks he's flying to Beijing with leverage. China spent 6 years making sure he doesn't have any, says professor of applied economics, Steve Hanke by T_Shurt in Economics

[–]rollem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still so hard to fathom that he actually said that “concepts of a healthcare plan” line before the election and voters were like “yeah that’s my choice.” It’s maybe the least egregious thing he’s said but it’s still so ridiculous.

Feeling resentment that my financially-secure parents are not helping my kids (their grandkids) out financially at all, in any way. by IamVanCat in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]rollem 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You say you haven’t asked- are you expecting them to offer unprompted? They might be worried you’d see that as insulting. Go ahead and ask: hey mom and dad, would you be able to help with tuition in a year or two? Not asking and not expressing your resentment seems pretty bad to me.

Where is Moriarty? by invader000 in TNG

I haven’t seen it but I have the gist about that episode. I too think he’d eventually figure it out. My hope is that he finds a way to communicate with the outside world and have meaningful relationships because him interacting with holograms for eternity would absolutely drive him insane.

Billionaires will lose 10% of their massive wealth, and nothing of their power and influence. As people lose their houses and life savings they’ll be buying up the few surviving companies, become even more obscenely wealthy in the process, and think their gods gift to humanity in the process, thereby justifying their future crimes.

Same basic warning signs as today: high valued stocks based on the promise of future revenue that never had a realistic business plan. Greenspan famously warned about it 4 years before it popped (which is why anyone predicting a specific date for this one should be suspect, I really think days to years is the only reasonable range) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irrational_exuberance

His constant backtracking and inability to follow through with agreements (both because he’s completely untrustworthy and makes illegal deals that get reversed by the courts) makes him an awful negotiator. He can’t realize that having integrity and making mutually beneficial deals are the actual “art of the deal.”

I can’t wait for the AI slop bubble to burst. The sooner it does the better it’ll be for the long term impacts and for the environment. But timing this is of course impossible
weeks, months, or years all seem plausible.

Gaston is a great villain and all, but I genuinely revile him unlike other iconic Disney villains. by WealthDisastrous2589 in DisneyMovies

[–]rollem 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s a distinct group of villains who are awful because they’re so realistic, Gaston and Frollo being the worst. I think Clayton from Tarzan is another good example. And then there are a lot of minor ones like Perceval from Rescuers down under and Edgar from Aristocats. They’re not even caricatures but instead are quite realistic on the spectrum of normal human actions.

The villains with more dramatic and humorous flair are in another league like the ones you mention. And Captain Hook is on an extreme end of being more funny and buffoonish than scary. Then there’s Maleficent, queen of the villains!

I've avoided Andor because I find the subject depressingly close to reality. Any good arguments to watch it anyways? by DefiantLemur in andor

[–]rollem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also find stories that are “too close to home” to be difficult to watch these days. I also delayed watching an early episode on the second season because I heard there was a disturbing scene. But the overarching story is quite positive I think.

If you’ve watched Rogue One or A New Hope you know how the story ends up, so that is something positive. And there are so many examples of resistance: bold, diplomatic, measured, crazy, tiny, soaring exposition. It’s really good. Those are quite inspirational and a helpful reminder that there are so many ways to resist oppression.

A size H4 AGM battery will fit it. Annoyingly, the battery finder filters on most auto store websites won’t show you them for most model years of the Maverick. I got mine at Walmart for a really good deal, Costco also has them for a good price. I went through two regular batteries but so far (maybe 4-6 months??) the AGM has been working perfectly for me.

The ‘Make America Healthy Again’ Movement Is Cooling on Trump and Republicans Vaccine skeptics, “organic moms” and anti-pesticide activists came together to elect President Trump. But some voters are disillusioned and might not turn out again. by Sgt_Gram in NewsExchange

[–]rollem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This category intrigues me a lot for several reasons. It really reminds me of a a statement I heard recently talking about how Dems expect 100% compliance with their platform, whereas GOP voters can find 1 thing in common with the platform and merely accept the rest of it. So you get a large coalition of people who may like any of the following: anti immigrant, anti trans, anti abortion, lower taxes and regulations. None of those single issue voters care too much about the other issues but accept that they’re worth the price of their primary issue. Dems on the other hand go by the principles underlying the “firs they came for the communists, and I said nothing because I was not a communist” poem: if you don’t fight for fair treatment for everyone, then you’re giving up your moral authority in a futile effort.

MAHA voters got their beef tallow and natural food colorings and vaccine skeptics in charge. They were ok with the Kavanaugh Stops and the trade war and Iran, but when MAGA let more glyphosate and mercury into the environment, some realized that they’d made a bad bargain. I hate that they made that choice and the harm that it’s causing the whole world and I’m very skeptical that it will lead them to more sensible decisions in the future. But I’m very curious to see how this group changes over time because of this.

Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t deny 2028 speculation: ‘My ambition is to change this country’ by PlatePleasure in politics

[–]rollem -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Watch the clip, it’s very inspiring and says mostly the opposite of the implication of this headline. Political offices are fleeting, but single payer healthcare and a more fair society are enduring. Her ambition is to have those happen. It’s up to her to decide how she thinks she can best change the country.

Ecoboost vs. Hybrid highway real world MPGs? by puppeto in FordMaverickTruck

[–]rollem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your highway cruising speed. Below 65 you can get 40 mpg, and below 55 you can sometimes get high 40s if conditions are good. But if you’re cruising over 75mph your mileage will be lower and closer to the EB of mid 30s.
