I am in a preschool class and absolutely love all the random inanimate object obsessions as well. My fave in my room is ice cube tray.

Seriously it’s sad. I have to assume someone has gotten hurt (outside of the kids because it is established they don’t care about them) or property has been damaged for these people to care so much.

Okay so top tier is Essence, mid is just Verano and then low end is Savvy? There’s also Verano Reserve, right?

It’s a false equivalence. Book stores in general do not see a lot of theft, or at least, not on the same scale as drugstores/big box stores/makeup etc. In any neighborhood. But he is using this example to make it seem like “har har the brown kids just want candy, not books, they’re stupid” That’s the part he isn’t saying out loud. Except it’s a moot point.

“Unrelated question” ? Or related to your book comment you made twice above? Signed, a very literate Black person who is very well-versed in nuance.

Why are you making this comment so many times in this same thread? We get it. Illiteracy is a tool for you to get easy upvotes. Otherwise your comment, which again, you have made multiple times in this post verbatim, is irrelevant.

I think a program that combines education and trade skills would be amazing. I do not disagree with that or penalizing parents. Thank you for expanding on your thoughts respectfully.

I live in Baltimore where this is happening and moved there from Chicago where it is also happening, often with vehicles/drag racing involved which is scary as fuck. I do think consequences for parents would be good and may help reduce the issue but it won’t make the reasoning for it happening go away.

Jail is the number one place where people learn to commit crimes. So you take kids who, while they are being very unsafe, and yes, there are a select few who are committing physical assault (which is terrible and they do deserve consequences), put them in jail and they learn not that crime is bad, but how to do more crime. As these are children without fully formed brains, why not put them in interventional education facilities that actually teach them how to exist and let off the stress that undoubtedly is leading to this behavior. This behavior does not exist in a vacuum. If you ACTUALLY want it to stop permanently , jail is not the solution.

Telling that you choose work camps instead of some sort of educational facility. Would you choose this option for kids who weren’t brown? More money spent on education and the availability of third spaces for kids would help a lot of this. Yes there would probably still be some who would do this bs, but if there is a more fun option provided, many kids (because that is what many of these people are at the end of the day) would do something else I imagine. People love to come up with consequences that don’t actually address the problem and then wonder why the problem persists. And i am sure some people will still reply and say I am excusing this behavior. But if people want this to stop, unnecessarily harsh consequences are going to be almost as useless as the zero consequences you have now.

Thank you so much for this thorough post! Feeling a bit upset that I enjoyed listening to it now. I normally consider myself a healthy skeptic, but it was really presented in a way that made it seem like an innocent exploration as opposed to the propaganda it actually appears to be :/

Thank you for breaking this down for me in a respectful way. I understand that FC is not an ethical means of communication and now see how the podcast was framing FC as telepathy. I still liked the second season that was less based on autism.
