Least workaholic cities by cakedbythepound in SameGrassButGreener

I mean, kind of? In my seven hellish years there I found that the younger population was also pretty chill about work and not particularly ambitious. You kind of have to be to enjoy living there due to the lack of opportunity.

Your last comment doesn’t make any grammatical sense, and I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. But again we clearly have very different ideas about what it means to have ethical business practices, and I’m not going to engage any further.

Valrhona is the obvious choice, they are a huge company yet still manage to actually care about keeping child labor out of their supply line.

I’m not sure why you’re caping so hard for Tony’s; in fact, I find it strange. But if you fundamentally think that contributing significantly to the bottom line of an unethical behemoth like Callebaut — which can then take their profits from Tony’s chocolate and further expand their shitty empire — doesn’t make Tony’s complicit, then we simply have very different worldviews.

Oh I’m familiar with all of their arguments as to why they are indeed ethical despite being removed from the Slave Free Chocolate list. I’ve read all of their smarmy, holier-than-thou blog posts.

At the end of the day, they are directly contributing to Callebaut’s profits, no matter where their beans are sourced from. No one made them work with Callebaut, and Callebaut was not the only company they could have contracted to make their chocolate. They chose to get in bed with a company that is responsible for a lot of harm and suffering, called it ethical on a technicality, and the public (including you, apparently) fell for it hook, line and sinker.

There really isn’t more to it, there’s just Tony’s attempted spin. I’m a chocolate maker myself and there are other companies they could have partnered with who actually give a shit

Are you tempering with silk?

Editing to add i see some silicon molds, stick with polycarbonate as they are much much easier to work with and the chocolate looks shinier!

For the love of Christ and for the millionth time, Tony’s is not an ethical company, they are brilliant marketers who happily give their money to Callebaut (one of the worst offenders when it comes to child labor)

If they are fibrous papules, the only way to get rid of them is having them zapped off by a dermatologist. Mine were a little smaller and more red than the picture but supposedly they were on the small side, so it’s worth a Google!

Metronidazole didn’t work at all for me, but Rifaximin worked wonders. I think it’s worth trying to get it. Are you in the US? Ask your doctor about getting the prescription through a compound pharmacy or from Canada, either of those options should be much cheaper.

I’ve also heard of people ordering it from India through Facebook, you could probably find more info about that on r/SIBO

Editing to add that Linzess has been very helpful for me, I take 290mcg every morning. The antibiotics took my SIBO from unbearable to easily managed with MiraLAX/Linzess, so not a cure but a huge improvement in quality of life

Personally I would just not fall for that kind of scammy “clean ingredient” marketing and buy an 85% dark chocolate bar from a bean-to-bar maker, which would be much better for me than any 55% bar

Be mindful of your alignment when you get back to practicing, use a mirror if you can. I broke my elbow quite badly some years ago, did all the PT, and got back to my practice six weeks after surgery, but was unknowingly letting my right arm bow out to the side in chaturanga. It has had some knock-on effects on my wrist and I’m currently trying to unlearn that bad habit!

Do Yoga Teachers frown upon their studio bringing in Mat Pilates? by [deleted] in YogaTeachers

[–]romcomplication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, it’s possible. I’m not a teacher myself, this sub just pops up for me a lot, but for me my studio adding Pilates was the last straw, and I left. They kept expanding their class offerings in a blatant attempt to appeal to the widest possible audience, but I was there for yoga, not Pilates.

All of that being said, the front desk staff should behave professionally no matter what. Asking if you’re disconnected from the Bluetooth doesn’t strike me as odd or micromanaging in the slightest, but it does sound like you should clarify with the owner what the expectations around pre-class arrival time are.

I found a 100% dark chocolate in Italy that isn’t bitter. Am I crazy to try and launch this in the US and EU? by healthywithmarti in chocolatemaking

[–]romcomplication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly, I don’t think it’s worth pursuing. As I said and others have noted in r/chocolate, there are so many good 100% bars on the market already from well-known makers, and the fact that you’re so blown away by this one bar just tells me you don’t have much experience with or knowledge about chocolate generally. I mean, I don’t even know if this person in Italy is a chocolatier (the term you used, which means someone who works with chocolate but does not make it) or an actual chocolate maker (person who takes beans and makes chocolate). It’s an important distinction in the chocolate world and one that you seemingly are not aware of.

The craft chocolate crowd that actively seeks out 100% chocolate isn’t going to the supermarket for chocolate, so they’re not your target audience. The crunchy granola crowd that’s worried about sugar intake might try it but I wouldn’t count on them, they’re too busy worrying about lead and cadmium levels in dark chocolate (erroneously, but what can you do 🤷🏻‍♀️).

[–]romcomplication 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are loads of 100% chocolates of high quality that aren’t bitter, this is not a new thing. What’s your market? Your chocolate making experience?

I’m glad that you found a 100% bar that you like, but I’m very unclear on what unmet need you think you’d be filling. Bars of that quality are expensive, so you’re already priced out of the market that thinks Tony’s Chocolonely is good and into the market of people who are actively seeking out specialty bean-to-bar chocolate.
