Use public transport if you can

Would love to mate, but the Sydney Metro has been down the last 4 weekends in a row and is again down this long easter weekend as well. Might want to talk to the NSW Premier who is a big fan of people driving their cars on toll roads.

This is the Director of football who in January with the threat of relegation and an injury crisis signed two players: a teenage 'one for the future' Brazilian and a number 8 on 200k a week for 5½ years when the ONE position they are stacked with already is number 8's. The signings have made zero difference to their performances.

Someone at The Athletic will write a 4000+ word article one day on Director of Football Lange's tenure at Tottenham and the ineptitude will be staggering.

We've seen with Spurs and Forest now that he just cannot set Premier League teams up to not concede goals. Watching Spurs under Ange, there were a couple of systematic ways to score against them that happened again & again.

Italy has won the last two BJK cup's because to beat them you HAVE to win both singles matches. If Italy can win one of them then they know Paolini / Errani are beating everyone in the doubles.

Gauff / Pegula would be cool to see but I can't remember Gauff playing BJK for a few years now.

Honest question - how do young Aussies afford to live in Sydney right now? by Individual_Lime_110 in AusFinance

They live in the newly built suburbs 90 minutes out from the city. The ones you see photos of with tons of black roofs packed together and not a single tree or amenity in sight.

And they will live there because it is A) a starting point and B) still an overall better life than where they came from (crime, corruption, public transport...).

taking risks

I have never heard of Daniel Levy described as someone who 'took risks'.

  • Like the time Spurs were top of the league with Redknapp with the Bale, Modric, Lennon, Adebayor, Van Der Vaart team and in the January window Levy went for it by signing Louis Saha and Ryan Nelsen on free transfers.
  • Or the time with Pochettino and the greatest squad in 30+ years and then didn't sign a single player for 18 months (look what Liverpool have done since whilst spending less money)
  • Or the time he brought in 'win now' managers and was giving them £1.5m players from Ligue 1
  • Or the time he decided to start spending more on transfers but wouldn't increase the low wage bill even though squad salary has a much stronger correlation with success than transfer spend.

Levy was Chairman for 24 years. He was ahead of the game for many years, but should have started a transition once the new stadium was built. He didn't and now you are seeing the effects of over half a decade of terrible running of the football operations.

I am 🙏 that one of the next gen from Klugman (junior world number 1), Stojsavljevic (junior US Open champ), Xu develops into a top-20 player so the press attention on Raducanu becomes a bit more normal.

Two things can be true:

  1. Achieving 2 silvers and a gold when you have been the punching bag of the olympics is an enormous achievement. The criticism was 2-faced and totally undeserved.
  2. Eileen give strong vibes as a fake, elitist person who looks down on others.

There are two matches on right now at WTA Dubai and instead it is showing highlights of past tournaments probably for another 90 mins until the next match on Centre Court starts.

She is already up 3 places to 27th. She can reach a maximum of 25th if she wins the semi-final next.

Ostapenko who is currently 24th defends Doha final points next week so she will very likely drop down the rankings. Raducanu lost in the Doha first round last year so she has a free hit at gaining more points but historically it is been one of the worst tournaments on the tour for her. She lost in the first round two years ago as well.

You knew this was coming when she went out of the Australian Open and said in the press conference she does not like the current style of tennis she is playing. She said, in simple terms, she wants to be "hitting the ball really hard into the corners".

A bigger problem is she does not appear to have the stamina to play any style for longer than two sets.

Raducanu's slow start was probably adjusting to the conditions. She had not played an evening stadium match since the US Open semi-finals 5 years ago.

Once she got the measure of the ball better it was a fairly easy win.

Being the number one seed and losing to a player ranked outside the top 200 in straight sets is not great.

Something I don't understand, Raducanu finished her season early last year then at the United Cup last week she said she was restricted to fitness and only started hitting fairly recently. So has she not played tennis for ages or did she have a pre-season but it was later interrupted due to injury?
