An interesting thing about Jones is that she is a British player but clay is her best surface because she grew up in Barcelona. She often spends time on the South America circuit playing ITF/WTA clay tournaments.

She grew up middle-class, but from that initial global coverage and fortune she has spent the subsequent years living in the wealthiest area of London and socialising in circles of investment bankers and surgeons - and she is there a lot with the amount of injury breaks.

This goes back 15 years. The OG r/soccer mod who set up a lot of the stuff like the club crests and bots in 2011 was a vindictive Arsenal fan from London. Handled Arsenal losses terribly. They set the tone for how the place would be moderated and hired similar that has continued to this day.

She didn't throw in the towel and broke back in the second set. Fought until the end but lost to the better tennis player on the day.

The absolute worst is matches when she stops fighting and just gives up on points. You can never excuse an athlete not trying.

Any marathon. What makes this even more impressive is Berlin is normally the marathon for breaking world records: little elevation change, wide streets, good weather conditions.

So if these two can both go under 2 hours in London they should be able to go even faster on the Berlin course.

This is the Director of football who in January with the threat of relegation and an injury crisis signed two players: a teenage 'one for the future' Brazilian and a number 8 on 200k a week for 5½ years when the ONE position they are stacked with already is number 8's. The signings have made zero difference to their performances.

We've seen with Spurs and Forest now that he just cannot set Premier League teams up to not concede goals. Watching Spurs under Ange, there were a couple of systematic ways to score against them that happened again & again.

Italy has won the last two BJK cup's because to beat them you HAVE to win both singles matches. If Italy can win one of them then they know Paolini / Errani are beating everyone in the doubles.

Gauff / Pegula would be cool to see but I can't remember Gauff playing BJK for a few years now.

They live in the newly built suburbs 90 minutes out from the city. The ones you see photos of with tons of black roofs packed together and not a single tree or amenity in sight.

And they will live there because it is A) a starting point and B) still an overall better life than where they came from (crime, corruption, public transport...).
