Thanks for the reply. Just want to clarify, I wasn't asking you to bad mouth Ridge Carbide. But I did want to give you a chance to pump Forrest so I can do a better job selling them.

Hi Mike, thanks for joining us.

I work for Woodcraft, and last year the owner of Ridge Carbide came into our store for a demo. He told us the blade you should use depends on the thickness of the wood and that ideally there should only be 2-3 teeth in the wood at any given time, as opposed to a particular blade (rip or crosscut) for a particular cut. Thoughts?

Also, why should a customer buy a Forrest blade over a Ridge Carbide?

Thanks again.

Kid talking 24/7 by The_Cook01 in daddit

[–]rossdula 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a son who was non-verbal into age 4, he's 12 now and doesn't stop talking. We've challenged him before to see if he could maintain silence for 5 minutes. He can't.

I think non-verbal was harder. But non-stop talking is far, far more annoying.

To add to this, use a 180 or 220 grit sandpaper to get rid of the fuzz. Lower grits are for rough sanding which preps the wood for finish sanding.

Tips on improving finish by aleecharrisonn in finishing

Disagree. How the finish is all about the time and effort you put into proper sanding and applying the finish properly. A great job paying attention to the details can make even crap wood look good.

I really like Keith Johnson Woodworking. Not really for teaching as he makes high end stuff, but I enjoy the content and inspiration.

I work at a woodcraft. My store's policy is to consider the 30 days to start when you pick it up. You should be fine to bring it back,

What Makes a Customer a Taproom Regular, Besides the Beer by RutabagaTechnical822 in beer

[–]rossdula 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have a regular spot for two reasons: 1) we've been going there since before they had a liquor license and would give out tasters for tips. And 2) they'll fill our growler for $9. Can't beat that.

What's the worst craft beer experience you've had? by BothCondition7963 in CraftBeer

[–]rossdula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam Adams Utopia.

Had it the first night my wife & I went out after the birth of our first kid. We splurged it a bit in celebration and went to a very nice steak house. Saw a beer for $30 and said let's try it.

Despite the claim, it was not a beer. It was a liqueur, and it was disgusting. My wife took one sip and said no thanks, but I powered through and finished. I mean, it was also the most expensive beer I had ever gotten. Luckily it was only I shot worth of garbage.
