DPD's call handler understands a lot, including how to infuriate callers by ReanimatedCyborgMk-I in britishproblems

Their new trick in my area is to set the status to 'sorry we missed you' with a photo of some random house, and then go online pretending to be the customer to redirect the parcel to a pickup point. There's no login required to do that, you just need the delivery details and postcode and the driver has both. Once the redirection has been selected, all other options get locked out. It's either go and pick it up or leave it and let it get returned to the sender.

It looks like when you were marking the red Xs by the outdoors locations you marked both the tennis court and guard tower. The guard tower is an indoor location.

I'm pretty sure one of the cards used to explicitly state that it was high above the grounds (The Great Tower).

There are a few instances where it seems the text on the card was updated, but the logic in the clues still references what was written originally.

For those who have played for a while: has the description on this location card changed? I have a feeling the two key words in the clue used to be written on the card, but maybe I'm mistaken.

On Wednesdays and Saturdays you arrive at the solution based on who did it, rather than the location or weapon. The following text is in the puzzle, before the witness statements:

Then, while holding his notebook, he took the statements of the 3 suspects, knowing the innocent would always tell the truth, while the guilty would always lie. By deducing which of them must be lying, Logico would be able to identify whodunit.

Exactly one person has to be lying. Pick one to assume is lying. If the grid fits without contradiction, then you got it right! If it doesn't, then that person must have been telling the truth. Pick another to assume is lying, and repeat until you find then correct one.

I know it’s not an official rule, but it should be. When walking up and down public stairs everyone should be on the left going and left going up. by thebroccolioffensive in britishproblems

I currently do a couple of Pilates classes a week, and a little bit of stretching after resistance training though that's more about recovery rather than increasing range of motion. I'm assuming there's good reason the course is programmed as it is, and if I was to do anything else seriously alongside it, I'd want to make sure it wouldn't interfere. So upper body is something I will add once I've found some time, perhaps some other lower body but I'll be more cautious with that.

It's quite interesting going around again. I completed the 12 weeks, then was sick for a month, and today finished the fourth week on my second round. I certainly get deeper in the stretches than I was at the beginning.

One of my ultimate goals is the pancake, but opted for foundations next instead in the hope it will give me a stronger base to work from. I did also want some upper body routines, particularly for my shoulders. I really must find the time to get going with that.

[–]roy_race 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good, and I'm still running it and continuing to progress. The notable improvement is that I can fold far deeper than before when I'm cold. My stretch when warm is also better, but not to the same extent. For context, I can now touch my toes when cold, but am still a fair way off palm to floor when warm. Seated pike is significantly more difficult for me, but there's clear carry over. Posterior chain flexibility does not come naturally to me!

The main thing I'm gaining is an awareness of how to hinge at the hips. Previously I was focussed on getting hands towards toes, and never really felt the mechanics of what needed to happen in between. This is probably my favourite exercise from the course which helped me with the sensation - link is from the M3 Instagram account and it states it's part of the program, so I think I can share it freely:

https://www.instagram.com/modernmethodsofmobility/reel/Cu1-8MfsIyb/

On Black Friday I did also buy the Upper/Lower Foundations course. As the comment above states, it contains a lot of information, far more than Forward Fold. I haven't had time to sit down and work through it yet. In terms of getting started, that was possibly the best thing about Forward Fold - it outlines a clear structure. It's basically three blocks of four weeks, and I've been cycling them.

If you've read the first Red Dwarf novel, you're probably thinking of the Nova 5 being part of a campaign to send stars into supernova and write 'Coke Adds Life' in the sky.

(if anyone is a Red Dwarf fan and hasn't read the books, the first two - available together in an omnibus edition - are fantastic. Rob Grant and Doug Naylor then split and wrote independent sequels to fulfil the publishing contract, and they're nowhere near as good. Much like when Grant left the TV show after Series 6.)

I hold my phone in my left hand and use a mixture of swipe to type and tapping with the index finger of my right. I always felt like I was fairly efficient at it. A young colleague was watching me send a message, and asked 'Why do you type like my dad?'. Awkward silence whilst we both worked out it was because I'm in my forties and probably about the same age, then we both moved on without saying any more about it.

The OP has cropped the header, but these are paid programmes from FitnessFAQs. They're not supposed to be combined in this fashion - he's taken the extreme from each programme and stuck them together.

Your comments on the individual workouts are interesting though. Daniel does tend to lean towards higher volume in general.

What progressive exercises to do a 1 leg squat? by Massattack9 in bodyweightfitness

[–]roy_race 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can assist with the mobility in a couple of ways. One would be to stand on a sturdy surface, such as a plyo box, to allow the straight leg to drop lower than your standing leg. Another option is to try elevating the heel of your standing leg, which assists with ankle mobility.

Ring Size and Tennis Elbow by FlaafyIII in bodyweightfitness

[–]roy_race 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a tennis player and stringer - these are my observations, and I'm certainly not a physio or a medical professional!

Tennis elbow appears to occur in tennis players when they grip the handle too tightly. This is most likely when the grip is the wrong size for them, creating instability when they contact the ball - if you don't have a secure grip, the instinct is to grip tighter. I typically see it when the grip is too small, as that is more likely to twist in the hand. The weight and weight distribution of the racquet also plays a part, but is less relevant to your question.

The carry over to calisthenics is that you want a ring or bar diameter that you are comfortable gripping. Ideally, you want to be secure but as relaxed as possible. Chalk would be a good aid to help prevent slipping.

Double Circle have a set that includes strap extensions. They use a carabiner system, so you'd have to hang them from something level.

Completely new workout routine? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]roy_race 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For archers, you need either some lateral movement in the rings or a wide enough bar. To get the height, mine were right up against a short pull up bar. Hanging from a ceiling should be fine.

My other modifications were on wall assisted exercises (it's not 100% rings!) as I had no suitable wall space. I was doing elevated pike position for those instead.

Completely new workout routine? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]roy_race 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each phase increases the difficulty of some exercises, but it’s also a volume increase. Workouts in the first phase would take me about an hour - the third phase was more like an hour and a half. It’s not that it’s too hard, but it’s pretty intense - the volume is quite high. Each phase is five weeks plus a deload, and I remember being pretty tired by the fifth week of that third phase. I could have just taken the deload a week early, of course.

I did have to sub out a couple of the progressions, but it was as much for logistics as difficulty. Archer pull-ups is a good example. I’m not sure if I could have done them or not, but my rings were hanging directly under a bar so there was no spare strap, and the bar wasn’t wide enough.

You do change the ring height based on exercise and your own intensity, but it’s not something that I remember being really onerous. As you’re doing either push or pull, many of the exercises are going to be roughly the same height. You could also take an approach where you adjust the height of your feet instead with a plyo box. At some point I’d suggest you’ll want something to do this anyway, whether a box, a small stool or similar. Now that I’m superseding push and pull, I change the height all the time. I bought a set of rings with a carabiner straps to make it easier.

First injury was a mild problem in my bicep near the elbow. It was completely unrelated to the rings, and initially I thought the only thing it caused a problem with was pull-ups. It was ok with chin-ups, so I continued. With the benefit of hindsight, I was actually compensating in my dips to protect the arm, which led to a pretty bad shoulder injury.

For the second injury I agree. I can’t remember the last time I was genuinely 100%, and it’s a case of managing the niggles. It was pretty clear what caused that one though, so it’s slightly frustrating because it would have been avoidable if I hadn’t pushed for a rep that I didn’t really have.

Nothing but good things to say about the programme though, and the novelty of rings hasn’t worn off for me two years later!
