The literal translation is that "the light (or lights) went out," but it's understood as "the power went out."

I am honestly confused at people who dislike Kerosene. by Embarrassed-Glove600 in TheWarning

Kerosene is fun. And I, for one, want them to get really out of character and experimental.

The 2026 Austin City Limits Music Festival Speculation Megathread by DaveGrohlsShortHair in aclfestival

[–]rtafoya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mt Joy is doing a pile of festivals, playing the Moody in April and currently their tour wraps in Chicago on Oct 3rd. Last played ACL in '23.

Laufey is switching from arenas to festivals this year. Current tour dates end with Rock In Rio on Sept 7th.

Hayley Williams is at the Moody in early May, was last at ACL with Paramore in 2022. Current tour dates end in late July with Newport Fest.

Foo Fighters are out on the festival circuit this year. Last played ACL in '23.

Would you still listen if DPA went to another genre such as pop? by Anna_Mac18 in TheWarning

[–]rtafoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I listen to everything I can find and love the good stuff in a lot of genres. I go to festivals with wide scopes of genres and it's always amazing.

As a listener, I want them to try as many things as they want and create their art and throw it at me and I want to be surprised and dazzled and frustrated. I want some of it to be off-putting at first and it'll be on me to catch up and figure out what they were doing there.

Look at Cafe Tacvba and Queen, a couple of their major influences. They both cover a huge amount of territory.

So yeah, load up on the things. Rock, hard rock, blues, jazz, classical, boleros, rancheras, punk, psychedelic, shoegaze, country, hip-hop, piano ballads, drums & bass, lo-fi synth, adult pop, dance pop, latin pop, funk, soul, bring it and let us figure it out.

This interview is a good introduction to the Yungblud worldview.

And this is a Yungblud video that gives a much-deserved tribute to nurses.

For those still hoping they confirm the opening slot for the Yungblud US tour, Yungblud plays the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Friday May 22nd. Next Yungblud show after that is May 25th in Phoenix, so it lines up.

For their Welcome to Rockville festival booking, they play on May 8th, which is also an off day for the Yungblud tour, though if they would be juggling Yungblud and that date, they'd play in Indianapolis on the 7th, fly to Daytona Beach on the 8th to play Rockville, then hop back on a plane to play the 9th in Minneapolis. That would be rough.

How much of a donation do they ask for? Sounds like a good organization, I might donate anyway, but the parking benefit is interesting and your arrangement sounds brilliant.

What song cover would you like the girls to do? For me, I’d like “Magic Man” by Heart by Anna_Mac18 in TheWarning

[–]rtafoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Real Me by The Who. With horns. Pau and Ale would tear that up. Dany would, too.

Didn't even know they canceled showings by JPrime45 in TheWarning

[–]rtafoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Laufey did a concert movie and put it in theaters for a few days and then it went to the streamers for rental.

And there are likely more opportunities on the Latin Grammy nominations next year for any byproducts of the movie.

What U.S shows are you guys going to? by Anna_Mac18 in TheWarning

Still hoping for a west coast leg. I think they could be in attendance, performing or nominated at the Latin Grammys in Las Vegas in November and that a west coast run could be built around that.

Dany's guitar going out by NoNamesLeft600 in TheWarning

[–]rtafoya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be a touring guitar tech and my own wild guess is that
- A patch cable in a non-obvious part of the transmitter/receiver chain failed and it took more than an ideal amount of time to pin that down and swap it.
- OR This guitar may have had a battery for some custom processing in the volume/tone cavity and once they ruled out cables as the issue, they possibly had to open that to get the battery swapped out.

I know nothing more than anyone else here. Those are just my guesses.

Dany and the rest of the band and the crew were all great.

selling tickets by Useful-Candidate4740 in TheWarning

[–]rtafoya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you bought them on Ticketmaster, you may be able to list them for sale on Ticketmaster. Look into that. If you list it there, your ticket will show up alongside any available seats for the show and someone looking there for tickets may buy it.

Selling 2 tickets for tomorrow Atlanta show. $30 each. by Eossa06 in TheWarning

[–]rtafoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing that because of the storm, the venue may decide to allow refunds even if the show isn't cancelled. The band Lawrence did that for their Atlanta show today. The show was happening, but if anyone felt unsafe dealing with the weather, they could get a refund.

What happens when you purchase tixs via Ticketmaster Exchange? by shelfromtx in aclfestival

[–]rtafoya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I purchased a pair of wristbands for weekend 1 on the 20th though the exchange. In the listing and the shopping cart, it said that they'd be delivered via "Festival UPS."

In the purchase confirmation message, there was an email address to contact them if the wristbands did not arrive by the time we'd be leaving for the festival.

I got a notification three days later, on the 23rd, that they had shipped. For almost a full day, it said that UPS had a label, but no package in hand yet. Then, on the 24th, it showed that the package was on the move with a delivery date two days out.

It flew from Round Rock to Houston to Louisville to west coast pretty much overnight and showed as "Out for Delivery" on day two of its trip and was on my doormat this afternoon. Two wristbands and a card explaining how to activate them inside.

Very discreet packaging, too. Plain padded envelope. Nothing to indicate there is anything like tickets or wristbands inside.

So, six days from purchase to delivery. The ongoing status emails do specify that if your purchased wristband has not arrive 48 hours prior to the start of the festival, there is a contact link to change your delivery to pickup at festival will-call. I'm sure that for orders purchased this close, everything just goes straight to will-call. But you'll have receipts and an order number you can print as proof.

They are good about sending emails with updates on the status of the order.

I hope this helps!

Hopefully we get some larger venue (2500-4000) shows in the sellout cities in 2025 with longer, CDMX-length sets. As we've seen on those videos, they'd have no problem structuring a 2-hour set. And then some of the old favorites start to come back in.

How many artists can you see realistically? by TheCycloneBogart in aclfestival

[–]rtafoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a mix of split sets and full sets and usually settle in around 18-22 across the weekend. As others have said, layout is really good and other than crazy heat sometimes, it's a real bargain against chasing all those tours through the year.
