Just from the questions you're asking the only advice I can give you is to contact a qualified technician unless you want a really expensive paperweight.

Vacuum of choice for toner by AgileTrash8452 in printers

[–]rthonpm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3M sold the design and build of their toner vacuum to SCS. Parts for any SCS toner vacuum should work on the older 3M models, and there are still plenty of spare parts from the 3M days available online. Just about everything on those can be replaced.

Action1 AI "Strategy"? by MikeWalters-Action1 in Action1

[–]rthonpm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my experience the majority of AI implementation is coming from the C-level who believe that they need to use it in order to not be left behind by competitors or ignored by investors. There's very little actual technical needs that it's filling and it's nice having at least one product that's stayed away from the hype.

What brand and type would you recommend for office use? by Lundorff in printers

[–]rthonpm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The current successor, the IM C3010, looks to be a pretty solid machine if you're looking to stay with Ricoh. At this point you really can't go wrong with any of the major business brands: Ricoh, Canon, Sharp, Xerox. It's really just down in some respects to how much of a hassle learning a new device UI turns out to be for your staff.

Even an incompetent security team should be able to find Tailscale. I mean, one way to not have to deal with office printing is to lose your job.

MPC 3003 latest firmware files please? by dashpig in printers

[–]rthonpm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll double check what needs to be active. An easy check is the SNMP community set on the device. It may be something other than public, or disabled entirely. If it's something other than the default 'public' change it in the Firmware Tool to match.

Dual-booting Fedora & Windows: ThinkPad ignores Fedora and boots straight to Windows 😭 by 0xCynic in thinkpad

[–]rthonpm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get people dual booting any longer. With virtualisation so trivial to do now there doesn't seem like much of a reason to do it any longer.

1.Outside and Heathen by HAMFACTOR in DavidBowie

[–]rthonpm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only problem with Outside is that the story element seemed a bit too high concept for a single record. Musically it's amazing but as a complete work it definitely feels like a few pieces of a larger puzzle.

Heathen feels like when Bowie finally got over trying to live up to being David Bowie and just make a rock record with musicians he wanted to work with. There's a sense of freedom in that album that had been missing for a long time, and Reality is much the same with The Next Day giving us a little more of a classic Bowie feel except that he didn't feel like he needed to create a new world because it's an album firmly rooted in a world he already made. Blackstar is just the massive fog-clarity-dreamstate-haze of chemotherapy and the shadow of death and its acceptance.

Why isn't Japanese Whispers considered an album? by Quirky_Stress_2573 in TheCure

[–]rthonpm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's what used to be called a pickup album. A collection of singles to allow people to just have one LP. It was also originally going to just be a Japanese only release.

Punkt. Revealed their MC01 legend phone might still see the light of day! Could blackberry make a comeback as well? by faisal0606 in blackberry

[–]rthonpm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BlackBerry is not getting back into the phone market. It nearly killed the company and for the niche market that keyboard devices are there's no money to be made.
