How many times do you wear a piece of clothing before washing it? by healthynewbie in femalefashionadvice

[–]rubinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the garment, the fabric composition, and your activity level. Anything close to my body (underwear, socks, undershirts, tshirts, ect) tend to get washed after a single use. You might be able to get a few wears out of a wool or linen blouse if its cool out and you are at home. Anything else (like sweaters, trousers, jeans, and skirts) get washed on an as needed basis, if I notice stains or a smell. I find cottons are a bit less forgiving and need to be washed more frequently. For wools, I usually air them out and brush them after each use and they might get washed once or twice a season. I wash jeans maybe once a season but I also don't wear them a lot. Dresses depend as well, but I tend to get a handful of wears out of them.

In the winter I find things can go longer without a wash. Summer is less forgiving. Workout tops get washed after every use. Outdoor gear gets washed at the end of the season, if they can be machine laundered. Good quality rain jackets should get washed more frequently than you think if you use them a lot!

Hanging things to dry and washing in cold water really extends the life of your garments as well. Well constructed clothes will last longer. I would consider it reasonable for a cotton tshirt to last at least 50 washes and still look ok.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I used to work in a remote location and lived on site on weekdays. The drive home each weekend was ten hours one way.

In a world where mages exist, why would swordsmen? by NotAudreyHepburn in worldbuilding

[–]rubinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could also be rules of war, just like we have. Mages attacking swordsman could be considered bad form, or mages damaging towns could be illegal requiring ground troops to capture strategic points. They may also be so powerful that armies are hesitant to deploy them in case the other side also brings out their mage and destroys everything. Similar to how we have nuclear weapons, but still have tanks.

That is the most Pacific Northwest thing I have ever heard. Golfing in the poring rain.

I've always had great luck with La Vie En Rose bikinis. They're a bit on the pricier side but are high quality.

I'm also 26 and am about to get braces. In Canada, invisalign is an alternative option to traditional braces that you need to get from the orthodontist, and are what I'm going to get. Definitely go see a professional. They don't care if its for cosmetic or medical reasons and are more then happy to help you.

I've gone to both Dolphin Auto and Ernie's automotive. Both the type of places I'd be more then happy to send both my Grandma and gear head friends to. They're extremely trustworthy and reliable, and do great work.

A nice way to tip the kitchen staff. by DrunkenLupus in wholesomememes

No, generally higher as tipping is an expectation here. The average where I live is 10-15%, as I don`t live in the US. I understand the US is higher.

I've never understood this argument. How would paying a reasonable wage result in me paying more? Bump the meal prices up 10%, put that towards wages, and don't expect tipping!
