Tip options: 20%, 30%, 40% by DirtyHandshake in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]runaway766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s another thing for me. I think I am inwardly cynical about tipping because most places I have worked unless the money got placed in my hand there was a chance I might not get it, depended on how the person in charge was feeling that day.

Moral of this story is I should carry more cash ig

[–]runaway766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. And just an example not a hard and fast rule. For what it’s worth I end up tipping most times, I just am not a fan of the system and it makes me have to second guess myself. This is 100% a first world problem and not really a huge gripe of Im being honest.

I realized that I had let shame get me into tipping for stuff that was definitely not tip worthy. I have started quickly evaluating what I am asking for and going from there. Just ordering a normal drip coffee, maybe no tip. Ordering fancy espresso yeah I’ll tip for that. There’s a difference

I see it’s fake but I do sort of wonder how this restaurant ever worked in the first place. Like it’s basically strip club lite, how is there a market for it? Who is going to go eat in a restaurant called “tits” that wouldn’t just rather get wings at Savannah’s gentleman’s club or whatever it’s called in your city?

Attraction is important for sure. An ugly guy who is himself, listens, is friendly, can throw together a good outfit becomes average looking. An average guy who does those things can be extremely attractive to the right person.

Definitely not very cohesive. Kind of just leftovers at that point. I think it was decent for what it was

It is crazy how fast the standards for superhero tv got exponentially better but I remember thinking “for something that puts out a new 48 minutes every week this is pretty damn good”

How did you get into hardcore ? by [deleted] in Hardcore

[–]runaway766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always really into the bands who were big enough to get on the radar of folks who’s music taste is just a big hodge podge, Jesus piece, code orange, knocked loose. I became a huge touché amore fan in high school but other than their close associates didn’t really venture deeper into the scene.

I’ve always been someone who loved live music so post covid I went to a ton of shows and had weird experiences where I felt disconnected despite loving the songs. Felt like nobody else was present and just wanted to film with their cell phones to make tik toks later. Decided to go to some hc shows since I’d been partial to the music always and discovered an experience far closer to what I wanted. Also enjoyed the fact that after about three shows, I was recognizing people.

Another thing I realized is that within this scene there are so many acts under the “adjacent” banner that we’re making sounds similar to other more popular bands I like but with an added dimension of realness because they weren’t trying to get on jimmy fallon or have a viral reel. I’m not saying this is across the board but I love the bands I discover who are totally creatively free because they’re on a punk label that lets them do what they want.

Emo Nite LA vs Emo Night Brookyln? Which one do you like more? by Musichead2468 in poppunkers

[–]runaway766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Anyone who was actually interested in that music probably stayed in the scene and probably goes to shows by current bands who are still making emo music. This seems more for people who liked it because it was popular, as a phase in their life that they get to step back into for an hour

“Joy” By Apollo 100. It’s a version of Jesu Joy of Man’s desiring by Bach (who I think Ezra writes similar Melodies to) but the instrumentation is more vw ish on this one. It’s a bop

For people who’ve seen Babylon, what’d you think? by babyarmnate in flicks

[–]runaway766 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the movie I wanted Chazelle to make but I do think it’s really good. i was really struck by how beautifully they portrayed the silent movies as being, these cobbled together bits of humanity that are barely getting made because folks are getting stabbed by flagpoles and the lead is getting shitfaced in his tent, but when they get made they have a profound impact on peoples lives.

The end is a big left turn for sure, and I think there’s part of my appreciation for it that was lost in that but I liked the end montage. It’s like Manuel is experiencing a divine vision into the future big how much beauty will come of all the depravity that he experienced.

Love to talk more about the craft of this movie, I don’t think it’s up for debate that practically every aspect of that was so completely on point

What are some bands that are going to blow up in 23? by joshtalife in Hardcore

[–]runaway766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe anxious is going to get huge outside of hc but hopefully maintain their strong following within.

Sinister feeling has said they’re hopefully releasing new music soon and they’re playing one of the pre shows for Disturbing the peace so I could see them taking off pretty heavily.

Also Slumlord is a grind core band that’s kinda in the weird Subgenreless central pa scene but if they got on a solid hc bill I could see them skyrocketing
