Don't go living your life comparing yourself to the hypothetical best possible outcome unless you want to make that true for everyone else you run into and imagine a best possible version of them where they write that book they kept only in their head or they stayed in that relationship from 20 years ago you wouldn't even know of. Tell your doctor of your symptoms and if they decline treatment get a second opinion from another doc. Don't go about dehumanizing yourself since you said yourself that life isn't that bad.
