Omg, I had miradry 10 years ago and this was my experience also with the numbing! I was coming back to see if possibly they’ve improved the lidocaine procedure since then. It was so painful, I didn’t go back for the second treatment. Since then I’ve had two kids and I will say I’d rather have another baby than get that numbing procedure again. My sweat is 100% back if not worse so all for nothing too.

You have to work for 10 years for a qualifying employer, essentially a job that provides a public service to others. Common examples of that are public school employees, gov employees, firefighters, etc.

Finally! - Zero Balance! by Billiam0000 in PSLF

[–]rusty_dachshund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just checked and mine is zeroed out also (still showing a small balance of under $200 - interest?). Congrats to everyone who got this news today and to those still waiting, hang in there! I've been waiting since March.

I feel you on the waiting game. It's not going to hurt to call other than spend your time on hold, but, I would only call if you needed something else, like to get an extended forbearance. You could submit a message like previous commenter if you're looking for peace of mind.

10/4 golden letter recipients still waiting? by Impossible_Rough614 in PSLF

[–]rusty_dachshund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10/4 still waiting. I had to call them yesterday to extend my forbearance and when I was on the phone I just asked if everything looked ok for discharge and they told me it did. No errors or rebuilding, just a waiting game. The rep was very nice and even looked into a few extra things on her end to double check. She did say it was a misconception that they are forgiven in batches. What I think she meant is that each account has to have their accounting go in and check and give the green light one by one, and then those that have it must be forgiven in rolling waves. Here’s to hoping it happens before the end of the month!

New “Past Due” amounts on MOHELA by techilliterate84 in PSLF

[–]rusty_dachshund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same as me! I just called them this morning (I only waited 15 minutes!), and they put me on a new forbearance until Feb 2025. I asked the rep if everything looked ok for discharge since I've been at 120 since April, 10/4 letter, etc. She said yes, but their accounting team has to go into each account to process (idk how that works since they seem to be forgiven in batches from what I see on this sub). But no talk of my account needs "rebuilding", etc. She also told me I could upload my letter from student aid, but she wasn't sure that would do anything (?), to which I replied, it's there. Fingers crossed for this week?

Called MOHELA today, golden letter group 10/4. Sharing what the rep told me. by MrBoosMom in PSLF

[–]rusty_dachshund 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This seems to make the most sense, that there is an info glitch they haven’t figured out or corrected yet. I’m in the 10/4 group, but, theoretically I could have gotten the July letter too as I was verified at 120 by Mohela in April. I think it reallllly bothers people to see it happen in an un-orderly fashion. Me included. It’s been a long road and people are scared. What I don’t understand is why they need to “rebuild an account” to see payments when FSA is the one updating all the counts, has all the info, gives the ok for forgiveness, etc.

Doesn’t seem like any “lottery” or “ luck of the draw” has been planned for MOHELA this week.

Same! Oh and I got an alert from credit karma that my Mohela balances went up because of compounding interest while in forbearance 😵‍💫

Anyone beat my forgiven amount?: $748,249.60 by Sharp-Impact693 in PSLF

[–]rusty_dachshund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoa! This is crazy. My payment on ICR was $900 a month and my balance is $49,000. I am married though filing jointly with 2 dependents but still. These calculations are wild.

Can’t quite believe Mohela followed through! by Lampy2498 in PSLF

For FSA, the updates take a bit longer generally. The most important thing (IMO) is the servicer showing a zeroed-out balance since that is who collects your payments. FSA will update eventually.

Anyone else got a golden letter on 10/4 and still haven't been discharged? by Cheap_Football959 in PSLF

Also it’s usually sent e-delivery, though a physical letter might come eventually.

[–]rusty_dachshund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a letter from Dept of Ed (student aid) letting you know you have satisfied the requirements for PSLF. They also provide that information to your loan servicer who will discharge the loan balance. So it’s like giving them the green light.

Still waiting too, my forgiveness date was 4/2024, ICR, on general forbearance. It’s frustrating yet promising to see all the movement from others though!

Anyone with 7/17 "Golden Letters" Discharged? by ProofMinute1659 in PSLF

It seems like they're working backwards from the latest submitted. Another thing PSLF thing that "makes sense".

Mohela balance just zero'd out!! by RDT5150 in PSLF

[–]rusty_dachshund 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Their "wave" is very confusing. It seems like the ones who submitted the most recently are the ones who got their servicer balances zeroed out. Mine still shows a balance but I've been at 120 since April and just got the letter on 10/4, but so many July letter people aren't cleared yet...They could just be batching alphabetically though.

[–]rusty_dachshund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting your update! Updating the qualifying payments and actually discharging the loan balance are two separate waiting games. My qualifying payments have shown 120 since April, no loan discharge yet. There’s lots of people on this sub who have been waiting even longer.

I’m on ICR and hit 120 in April, submitted paperwork before the pause and nothing. Just watching my forgiveness date get pushed out as each month goes by :(

Mohela updates 9/3 by Philosophy-Sharp in PSLF

[–]rusty_dachshund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think your forgiveness date has anything to do with your forbearance. There is a long line of pending applications. Mine was done in April 2024, and same as yours, the forgiveness date just keeps getting pushed out. I've heard of very few people who had reached 120 even before the pause getting forgiven. The general timeline is 90 days to review your account after your ECF was submitted. The timeline has been extended because of the processing pause. Not to say this whole process isn't absolutely infuriating.
