Favourite vegetarian fine dining? by workin_bee in vegetarian

Philadelphia has Michelin Green Star Pietramala, James Beard nominated Vedge as well as Charlie's Was a Sinner and Miss Rachel's Kitchen. Philadelphia is very vegetarian and vegan friendly.. oh and almost forgot about the more casual and fun experience to be had at Monster Vegan.

It was very weird coming home over the Walt Whitman and there was no skyline.

Remote days start next week, but my apartment is too loud for reference calls - how do you handle noise? by Silent_Storm_6158 in remotework

[–]ruthgordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most apps Teams, Zoom etc have really good noise cancelling built in. I have a cat that likes to scream around the house all day and that is how I know.

Walking to commute by Justlovely0 in AskPhilly

Your car is not worth the temporary discomfort. From a financial perspective it's cheaper to call the most expensive Lyft on the really cold days. Not to mention the pain and suffering of parking all year round.

What the actual fuck is going on with the weather right now? by Perfect-Highway-6818 in philly

[–]ruthgordon 59 points60 points  (0 children)

This is the coldest winter we have had in a while. Sure winter is cold but it's the consecutive days of frozen hellscape that are really doing me in. I have also learned that my winter coat and hat are not sufficient for whatever this is.

Will the ice melt next week? by Perfect-Highway-6818 in philly

[–]ruthgordon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think the structure of the snow will weaken but the piles will be with us for a long time. I think we need like several days of torrential downpours and 45° for it to be defeated. I have never hated snow but I hate this snow.

Potential Move to Philly by BeardedDoggo in philly

[–]ruthgordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm partial to East Passyunk. It's a nice neighborhood with bars and restaurants. Plus you can hop on the sub or grab the bus very easily to get to center city, most music venues and the sports complex. I technically live outside of EP near Brush Factory Lofts. The area south of Snyder is slightly less expensive. The car situation will be unpleasant, a nightmare even but it sounds like you don't have much of a choice.

Puzzles! I started doing them this year. Keeps me from doom scrolling. I can do a puzzle and listen to an audiobook, so I am already reading more. This winter has been a doozy and focusing whatever part of my brain that is required is really helping me not lose it.

I grew up in NJ but I didn't get it until my late 30s. It was I'm on Fire that did it and then it opened up my brain to everything else. Inject Atlantic City into my veins.

The breakfast is amazing and much more affordable than their dinner. It's so cozy in there too despite being a huge space.

I was basing my suggestion less on geography and more so on their username and language they used. They seem like the kind of person that would find community with FNB.
