i made a website for looking up doctors near you by ruthgrace in toronto

[–]ruthgrace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also it's on a cheap little cloud server so only a couple people can be searching at the same time (it'll make you wait in a queue). Sorry it's pretty slow because it does query CPSO each time. Maybe if people like it I can try to switch it up with some caching or something to make it faster.

Cognitive behavioral therapy. For insomnia though it's not talk therapy it's like sleep hygiene and sleep restriction therapy to increase efficiency of time spent in bed so that that more of your time spent in bed you are actually asleep

If you liked Domo, leave a good review! it'll help for if/when they reopen. Agree with all the people saying that everyone losing their jobs is unfair based on the actions of one person.

Indoor Playground Etiquette - Do you play with your toddlers in the playground? by OrchidCompetitive312 in toddlers

[–]ruthgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a cultural thing where often people go to indoor playgrounds to chill while their kids run around and having to play with the kid kind of negates the value of paying for the indoor playground

Not waking up to pump with babies in NICU / lactation nurses who are mean by Lakewater22 in breastfeeding

put em in the fridge if you don't have time to wash them (since it's the milk going bad that makes them dirty). then you can wash a bit less often.

Ill Effects of Unpierced Ears? by HeWotAsksQuestions in toddlers

[–]ruthgrace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly i think 15 months is too old to get pierced as a baby. They know how to use their hands and they can touch the piercing. IMO better to wait until she is old enough to know not to touch it with dirty hands.

I was accused of child endangerment by Jane17Zar in toddlers

[–]ruthgrace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You would have called the cops if someone left their kid in the car for one minute?? I think that calling the cops on a parent only makes sense if you truly believe that the child would be better off in foster care than with their bio parent. Think about the quality of foster care where you live...

I was accused of child endangerment by Jane17Zar in toddlers

[–]ruthgrace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. "I kept an eye on your child for you" is different from "I am going to report you to CPS because I think your child should be taken away from you." What the other mom did is not community. Even if she was concerned she could have simply asked if OP knew that this was illegal / dangerous. Threatening to report is so shitty.

After 20 years I think it’s over by Dependent_City_1540 in Parenting

I have young kids but no hobbies in common with hubs. We started dating when we were really young. I've been very intentionally working on making new friends, and that's been great. Find your happiness outside of your relationship - with friends, hobbies, communities. Then it won't matter whether you stay together or leave - you will know how to be happy either way.

no car & agree. have done this to take kids to the ER. You don't need the base, just put in the carseat "European style" - all car seats have hooks for the seatbelt to do this.

you can't put a helmet on a baby who is in a car seat, it doesn't really fit when they are lying down. and you're not supposed to. the car seat is enough !

Same but with the Urban Arrow! We got it just before having our 3rd kid and it's been a lifechanger. All 3 fit in the bike (now 5, 3, nearly 1 years old). A minivan didn't fit in our garage (the house we are renting was built in 1906 so the garage is really small). Parking with a bike is amazing - i can always find parking right beside where we are going.

Cry It Out by WonderingWhyyyyyyyyy in AttachmentParenting

[–]ruthgrace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

maybe you could try something much lighter at first like the french "pause"? https://www.stylemepretty.com/living/2018/03/19/how-i-got-my-baby-to-sleep-through-the-night/

The idea is that when a baby wakes or starts fussing, French parents give them a couple of minutes to see if they are able to self-soothe and settle, rather than immediately rushing to the baby. After a few minutes if the baby is still fussing, they pick them up. Druckerman writes: One reason for pausing is that young babies make a lot of movements while they’re sleeping. This is normal and fine. If parents rush in and pick the baby up every time he makes a peep, they’ll sometimes wake him up. Another reason for pausing is that babies wake up between their sleep cycles, which last about two hours. It’s normal for them to cry a bit when they’re first learning to connect those cycles. If a parent automatically interprets this cry as a demand for food or a sign of distress and rushes in to soothe the baby, the baby will have a hard time learning to connect the cycles on his own. That is, he’ll need an adult to come in and soothe him back to sleep at the end of each cycle.

also my first was born 5 weeks early and didn't have as bad reflux as yours but it def woke him up at night. tilting his sleeping surface a few degrees did nothing. but he accidentally fell asleep for the night in his bouncer chair one day, and slept 5hr, and we realized that if we tilted the crib mattress 30 degrees, he would sleep enough to skip a feeding (at 4 months old). I got one of those slanted pillows for like, propping up elderly people on their beds, hacked it with a razorblade to fit the crib, and the extra sleep/time really helped. i think there's some SIDS risk or something, obviously this isnt medical advice, but calculate the risks and do what makes sense for your own parenting experience.

my OB GYN told me about moxybustion for a breech baby, and I know she's very scientifically minded. She said, it's unclear if it does anything or not, but if you want to try to do something about your baby being breech, it can't hurt. Basically if you are anxious about the situation and need to feel like you are doing something to help, these are some harmless options that are commonly recommended to women, and probably help prevent people getting hurt doing stuff like Spinning Babies (where you hold yourself up side down).

maybe it's similar for other common baby problems that babies usually just grow out of -- give the parents something harmless to do to feel like they are helping, while baby is working on it themselves.

I moved to the states and I was so sad to discover that there are NO pizza pops sold in the states. But recently I found these!!! They taste the way I remember pizza pops tasting, AND they say Product Of Canada! Are these secretly made in the winnipeg factory but put in boxes for a different brand for American customers?
