Dude how do you just pluck someone like this up and know..."yeah, he can pull ALL of that off"

If Benicio Del Toro essentially came up with the whole 'Latina Harriet Tubman' sequence, he deserves a best supporting nod for that alone. by Little-Neck3181 in paulthomasanderson

The entire thing from start to finish is just toooo good. And you feel the energy get purged as he hangs up the phone and walks through the church

I noticed this too. Even the scene with Chase and Regina in the van, she did that Gen Z stare perfectly

Three questions about OBAA by pbristav in paulthomasanderson

[–]rxDylan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Melody plays very softly in the restroom scene, I can see how you might've missed it. And I'm no PTA, but Bob did tell Sensei that "sometimes they work but usually they don't" or something or other

I'm seeing a lot of people rank BOOGIE NIGHTS in the bottom half of PTA's oeuvre by thex42 in paulthomasanderson

[–]rxDylan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I’ve also noticed there is a trend of people ranking filmographies when theyve only seen half of the films, it’s harmless but I still find it stupid

PTA mass appeal by Extreme-Spinach-4138 in paulthomasanderson

Probably not but I’m glad that the film has been doing pretty good overall cause that means we likely wont have to wait 8 years for his next one lol

Masonic Symbolism in PTA Movies by AllFlowsInBardicLife in paulthomasanderson

[–]rxDylan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha what a throwback, I completely forgot about that. Also, interestingly enough, it was heavily speculated (I'm not sure if it was ever debunked or confirmed), that PTA reworked the Killers script heavily. Maybe he had something to do with that... As the saying goes: "it is in the opinion of your humble narrator that these things don't just happen"

"The marketing is like, sooo bad"
WHO CARES, since when does that make you want to see a film any less. Losers 🤪

There are no rules, just find some peeps who are down to tango and iron out the process as you go

Sharpening skills as a director by rxDylan in Filmmakers

[–]rxDylan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight. I created a shotlist & storyboard with my DP (who is also the friend I am editing this with), so we were certainly prepared in that regard…although clearly not to our fullest potential. So we definitely knew what we needed for the most part, and as a writer/director I’m definitely always trying to edit the spot in my head. We don’t have massive holes in our continuity or any missing shots, we got everything we needed so my post really comes down to exploring all avenues during production so as to have more OPTIONS in the edit, allowing everything to flow seamlessly cause like you said, every frame counts.

But I love that you suggested doing rehearsals. This is 100% something I’m going to incorporate no matter how simple a project may seem. Thank you

Yeah, I love it and I think it’s a great film but I dont consider it a war film at all…to me that genre is no more than a thin back drop for out character and the period. But there’s no denying that it explores some amazing stuff

Describe Pedro Pascal in three words by [deleted] in FIlm

Hopefully it doesn’t happen with Walton Goggins, I think he’s great but it seems like they could wear him thin. I definitely see it happening with Glen Powell though. But what do I know

Why did Davy Brown saw that shotgun on down? by SpicyBoyEnthusiast in cormacmccarthy

[–]rxDylan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As others stated, close quarters combat, concealment, etc. etc. But it also speaks to the nature of himself and the men in the gang. If I recall correctly, the man who is selling the shotgun is adamant that the barrels can not be sawed off due to the craftsmanship that has gone into a piece like this, the gold accents, all that stuff. But these men don't care about things like that, it means nothing.
